I said nothing about a camper. I said "small trailer with a mower or whatever a homeowner may need a truck for". Do not quote something I DID NOT SAY!

Something a homeowner may need a truck for, is go to home improvement store get a couple sheets of plywood, or some landscape material.

I know lots of companies that use f-150 to drive around for general use.

Thumbs up I'm still here :)

Update;
...I was just reading through them, sorting through the information.

Here's the info I pulled from the owner's manual. The only discrepancy I see is that they don't list a "Super Crew", as shown on my sticker originally attached, only a "Crew Cab". Are they the same, because it's the only 4x2 at the 139" wheelbase that I own.

Secondly, based upon all the great information and foresight you all have shared, I am now considering the;

Cruiser RV XT-276
XT-276 - Cruiser RV

The forward bed & ability to sleep 4 is important. I'm helping my wife with her "Boutique on the Go" business, so we're not carrying bigger, heavier toys, instead boxes of ladies shoes, purses, accessories. The heaviest part of the load are those black metal 6' grid walls that you see in the middle of our trailer.

Here's a few more snapshots of what we have & what I'm trying to find a solution for with our existing F-150. Your input and recommendations of trailers that suit our needs would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm obviously like a fish out of water here!

Thanks again to all, and I look forward to your feedback.

Those cruisers look nice, too...exactly like the XLR versions at each size. You are still going to struggle with payload. These toy haulers are made with a heavy tongue so that you can load heavy weights in the garage. Even if you stay light you still have 800 pounds counting against your payload. As Barry said, the yellow sticker will really help.

As soon as I get home, I'll be shooting that yellow sticker on the drivers door for you. Thanks!

That one was likely on the door itself. The one you want is on the door frame near the bottom. It actually has yellow highlights and is labeled "Tire and loading information"
It looks like this:

Now that the stickers are posted, I'm waiting to see if anybody comes up with a different recommendation than I did...

Tires can be changed to a higher load rating and type which renders this sticker useless.

actually this one to me is more truthful than the tire one. Only reason being is that they tell you what the overall weight of the truck can be. It is up to the driver to find his weight before loading and knowing what else goes in. The sticker with tire loads are too standardized for different trucks. Plus it doesn't factor in if there has been any modifications IE hitches, tool boxes, covers ect...

But yes, the ruling in the court is probably going to be "Don't do it". It could've and was predicted as well as assumed this wasn't the best of ideas off the bat.

It isn't just Ford.. When I went to buy my new GMC the salesman was trying to tell me the smaller V8 was ok to tow 400 pounds less than the larger V8... I asked to see his spec sheets.. After I read through them, I asked who was going to upgrade the rear diffs for the extra towing capacity? Stock vs stock (smaller V8 vs larger V8 Z71 package) the difference was 4,000 pounds capacity...

If it makes you feel any better, I tow that trlr with a Silverado 1500 Z71, with a 5.3. With the trlr loaded I was about 15800 for the truck & Trlr. The trlr alone weighed 9800. I was under the limits on my axles, but I was over the tow rating by about 300 lbs, and over the GCVWR by 800 lbs. My truck is rated at 9500lbs with a 15000 GCVWR. I took it form OH to FL, and back, this past summer, and it did a great job. it sounds like the capabilities of your truck may be a little less than what I have, and I would not have wanted to tow it with anything less. I wish now that I had bought a 2500, but no more than I tow this camper (it's on a seasonal site), I'll do with what I have.

For what it is worth, I have been a commercial truck driver since 1984, and have driven a lot of heavy loads. When I took the trlr from my house to the scale, about 15 miles away, without the sway control, it scared the crap out of me. Once I got the sway control on it was manageable. I ran between 60 & 70 mph on the trip to FL, and it towed really nice, I can only imagine how good it would have been with a bigger truck!

Jesse, I know that what you want is an idea of how much trailer your truck can safely tow, which is why folks wanted the sticker information.
However, as I said earlier, without the heavy-duty tow package, you are limited to 5000 pounds towing capacity.
You need to establish once and for all whether you have that tow package or not. It is not listed on the window sticker, so I'm assuming it is not present.
I did run your VIN and came up with the following:

Dead Weight Hitch - Max Trailer Wt. 5000 lbs (5000.0 min/5000.0max)Dead Weight Hitch - Max Tongue Wt. 750 lbs (750.0 min/750.0max)
Wt Distributing Hitch - Max Trailer Wt. 6400, 6900 lbs (5800.0 min/9500.0max)
Wt Distributing Hitch - Max Tongue Wt. 960, 1035 lbs (870.0 min/1425.0max)

My point earlier was that your hitch is your limiting factor right now. If you can find a camper that weighs 5000 pounds or less fully loaded, your truck is rated to safely tow it.
As Dustman06 said, his 4.6 struggled to pull 4400 lbs. Do you have any idea how much that trailer you are currently pulling weighs fully loaded? Knowing that might give you some idea of how the engine will work pulling a 5000 pound camper.

I've made every effort to ensure the information in this (and previous) posts in this thread are correct. I am not an expert, and I do make mistakes. Please be sure to double check facts, figures, and opinions provided before making any decision on a camper purchase.

I am jealous of your payload on the yellow sticker...it is actually better than my ecoboost that is rated for 9600 pound towing capacity. I think you are going to have the opposite problem I have. I can easily tow the heavy weight but can't put it on the tongue so I dropped down a trailer size. You could probably manage the tongue weight with weight distribution but can't pull the weight. Either way I would not want to tow a 30 foot trailer with this much frontal area with that truck.

You have a CDL and openly admit to overloading your personal vehicle on an online forum for the world to see?

I think you are reading far too much into the sticker on the body pillar. I have examined countless threads on this subject, and have yet to see any conclusive evidence- and much to the contrary, even from former LEO- that the yellow tag has any legal standing what-so-ever. It is placed there by the manufacturer, and, as far as I know, there is no standardized governmental agency that outlines the procedure for arriving at that number. Tire ratings are DOT ratings- overload them and I could see you having some issues. But all of the others??? I've never heard of anyone being ticketed for being overloaded unless they exceeded the max allowable before needing a CDL. Obviously from my earlier posts I don't recommend being grossly overloaded. But to keep throwing out these hypotheticals about legal issues and lawyers is a stretch. If you can prove the legality of adhering to the yellow sticker, I'm sure we'd all like to hear about it.

My comment was about DJmac saying he overloaded his truck... FLAT OUT SAID IT... So i'm not reading into anything more than what was said...

If you read the other bits of the conversation I stated I use the white sticker that has the GVWR posted on it as that is the LEGAL limit for the truck... Doubtful one would get cited for being over weight but enjoy the time with the insurance company explaining to them why you were over if they every find out after an accident...
