Hey did you know the awning is spring loaded.
Had to take the awning off because of wind damage and couldn't get it rolled up. I found out the awning is spring loaded.

Ouch, hope that heals quickly.
Yes they ARE spring loaded and every awning manual I've seen through the years have had a warning as such.
Here is a page from the Dometic electric awning manual with no less than THREE paragraphs of warnings about the awning being under spring tension.
I added the red box.

I found out the same way you did. I was lucky and only have a black finger nail.

Like a roll up garage door... Nothing to fool with either. A garage door spring will kill you, right now.

Ouch! That's a painful way to find out. The cut looks deep.

When I installed my home built awning poles I used the awning bolt for the forward attach hole on the bracket. Prior to removing the bolt I clamped the awning in place with a vice grip type "C" clamp. Worked great.

Both the motor and the torsion end are held in place by the channels in the arms, the bolt is just to hold it in place and does not keep it from spinning.

Which brand is that. The LCI Solera model is not like that. Remove the bolt without securing the roller will let the whole thing fall out.

Ouch, how many stitches on that pinky finger? Looks like it stopped bleeding?

Owie, I had a garage door spring break once luckily no one was near it.
What a pain to fix.

I hope you are all healed up.
Did you find out what brand your awning is? I have the same one on the trailer I am bringing home tomorrow and it does not work and I need to see if I can find a manual for it.
Thanks
