Just brought home a 2017 305VL5

We picked up our new 305 that we ordered the last week of January. It took 6 weeks to come in. And to our surprise its a 2017. I did have a quick question though... Where is the fresh water tank drain? I see a hose tucked up behind the pa el where you fill the tank. Is that it. There is nothing hanging down from the belly except the low point drains.

I just noticed that when I turned around in the yard that the pin box made contact with my tonneau cover rails. So I will have to hook back up and check to see how much clearance I need. Maybe a good excuse to upgrade to a Mor/ryde pin box that's a little shorter. I use a super glide hitch so the only way to raise that up is with a 3" riser that they sell for it. But the camper sits pretty good so I would rather not do that. I guess this is a common problem with the GM trucks since 2007. Mine is a 2015.5. I would have thought by now the rv manufacturer would have this figured out.

here is where the pin box contacted the cover rail. I bent it back up a little already.

Yep. I was expecting a 2016 and didn't find out until we got to the paperwork. Even the salesman thought it was a 16. It was one of if not the first 17 the dealer got in.

Try looking behind the axles under the garage. There should be 2 blue hoses. One capped (Fresh Water Drain) uncapped is the overflow.

I gave a quick look and I saw 1 blue hose sticking down in between the axels. I didn't have time yet to look any harder. If that's it they couldn't have put in a worse spot. My last keystone trailer has a drain valve. This one appears to just have a cover like the low point drains.

I'm using a 2015.5 GMC 3500 with a 6.0 Gas. It pulled it surprising well.

bmallak,
I'm hoping next year I can upgrade to your TV (my current 2004 is starting to show her age...). How has the 6.0 handled any good size hills/grades?

Not much yet. I don't expect it to pull like a diesel but the magority of where we go is fairly flat. We will see how it does when we add a couple thousand pounds of cargo. I can tell you this truck is much more stable than my 2007 classic was.

I agree the 6.0 will not pull like a diesel but for me it will be a daily driver.
Looking forward to any reports you have with full load in the garage or some steep grades.
Thanks...

does anyone know if the fresh water tank is over the axels? That is where the drain appears to be. I just assumed it would be in the front half of the trailer. The water pump is up front by the storage area
