A 72 hour hold in a psych unit is beginning to intrigue me as a potential vacation opportunity.
110V switch outside on the WH on my early 2015 29HFS. If you drain your WH make sure the 110V switch is off, so that when you give it power you don't burn out the element.
I'll try what you suggested, PH. I was under the impression that if gas and electric was both on, they would both provide heat at the same time, bringing about a quick recovery.

Both are correct. Double check the AC power to the water heater is off before you drain it. Many switch off the WH breaker to make sure.
They are independant systems and can be run DC/GAS, AC only, or, both at the same time (faster water heat recovery when showering).
