LED Lights at Awning - Need Help
I was looking to change out the LED Lights on the awning to a multicolor with wireless controller. What amp rating is on that circuit? I was thinking of taking the old lights down and reinstalling the multicolor lights which have a higher wattage. Also was going to intercept the wire at the switch panel in the camper and add the wireless controller just after the existing switch. Then I assume I would have to figure out how to run the wire out to the awning. Thoughts? Not sure how the wire runs from the panel just inside the door to the awning arm. Can I even change that wire without tearing everything up? I will need a 4 pin and I assume there is only a 2 existing. Is this correct?
This is on a 30fqsl. Thanks in advance for the help!!!

LED Lights at Awning - Need Help
The present light is a single color. Those typically have 2 wires (just power), right? I need 4 wires run out to the end of the light strip I think. Or I would have to put the controller outside on the exterior wall of the camper. Plus these are I think double the amps per ft from what I have found on the LED websites. I need about 64 watts for the ones I have to work properly. I may need to rethink this project and just change to blue single color with a dimmer. The bugs are awful with that bright white strip on there now.
I installed blue LEDs on our boat and it seems not to attract bugs.

LED Lights at Awning - Need Help
Roo.. I have a wifi controller and separate receiver that runs off of my iPhone to control it via wifi. It works at the house from about 40ft away going thru 3 walls. As long as the controller and receiver are close to each other they can be inside the camper and my phone can operate it. I am going to try tomorrow once I get the camper from storage to see if it works thru the camper walls.
Fly... It's 16ft at 4 watts per ft. It can get pretty bright, but it was the better waterproof strip. I could only find it in high intensity, I guess when you're hooking to a dimmer it really doesn't matter other than making sure I don't fry something or burn down the camper.
Still need to know the amps of that circuit if anyone knows offhand or how the wire is run to the outside.

Yes, the new set up would be about 5.33 amps. I am asking for what amps are on the existing circuit.

Look at the fuse panel to find out how it is fused. If unsure of which fuse pull one until the awning doesn't light.
To go multi color would require running wire from controller all the way to the awning. It is inside the wall/ceiling and not easy to get to. You could run it under the trailer then up to the awning. I won't be doing that.
The original strip works for me, but dimming was desired. I installed a remote with dimmer. The remote I have works fine inside the cabinet under the sink (mine is a 29HFS).
It was easy to find the wire to the awning light... it was brown/white I think... tap in to ground and hot (at the switches) to power the remote then break the one hot to the awning light through the remote. Leave grounds alone.
I also added warm white LED strip above the slide with remote.

I was worried about the wiring. Thinkin I may just switch to single blue color and add a dimmer. Then all of this becomes moot. Thanks

My RF controller is in the pass thru storage comp. and I can be in side and have no trouble changing colors or on/off.. Ran 4 wire cord up awning arm following awning motor wires and used same hole the factory did. I picked up power from light in pass thru. Have 'em on trailer and in roller. Just have to plug the roller ones in each time..very simple. Didn't have to change any fuse or rating. Also, the surge protector says they pull'in 1amp.

Huh.. I'll have to look at that. I don't have a light or plug in pass thru but I would have easy access to battery from there anyways. Just not sure I can get wire up to the awning from there of from switch panel. Thanks for the info!

I used this dimmer and it works pretty well. The remote is a cheapo but serves my purpose (which was to dim down those bright LEDs). I wired into the appropriate panel switch (cut the wire and spliced in the dimmer hot leads). Be sure to find the negative lead (ground) coming from the LED strip (paired with the hot wire to the switch) and splice into that wire for the negative lead to the dimmer. I rarely use the remote as the dimmer returns to its previous setting if you only use the panel switch.

DR, I ordered that same one in case it becomes too big a pain to get RGB lights up there.

You can also use a 12 volt dusk to dawn sensor.

If you do need to run a new wire, can't you just use the existing wire as a pull string for the new wire?
