Yep, mine is the same ... hollow ... all the way around ... mitered at the corners ...

Too bad someone doesn't manufacture a quality ramp door.

Ive had my 29HFS at dealer now for a month waiting on new ramp door. Dealer says that forest river and Lippert are back and forth on who is paying. Sent the Forest River warranty dept an email explaining everything. There response was "There is no negotiation between companies about this. Your info has been seen to Lippert for approval. Waiting on approval". Has anyone else had the ramp door replaced, and how long did it take? I knew there was a reason I did this in the off season.

XLR Ramp Door

There has been several people that have had the ramp door replaced. The only problem is that Lippert has not done anything to fix the problem. In my case Lippert gave me the excuse that the door only has a 1 year warranty and that there was nothing they were able to do to help me. Join the XLR group on Facebook, I have a post with the before and after repair photos.

On this forum, someone posted what the engineer had to say about this. I paraphrase, but he said if they would build it correctly the door would not fail.

I get it that it needs to be to be light, but with 7' x 7', held together by two thin layers of plywood with Styrofoam and glue, and depending entirely on the integrity of an air-tight seal... it is doomed for failure.

An idiot would recognize that all these doors failing can't be about the people putting them together wrong, the engineering is poor. And the engineer needs to get his head out of his.... well ... out of the sand.

Yes. Agree 100%. I know the door wont be any better when I get it back. Doomed to failure. Guess I'll try and get in touch with Diane. I had a much better response from her on another issue than Donald Burgess. It was clear that he wasnt going to be looking into the matter to help out. Frustrating.
