Motorcycle Chock
I have been searching and reading the FR forums for what everyone is using for chocks (lots of options out there... ). Specifically, I was curious if anyone was using the "free standing" harbor freight model - 1800 Lb Capacity Motorcycle Stand/Wheel Chock. I will still be strapping down the bike but was thinking this free standing model would allow me to be able to remove the chock as soon as I get to my destination. Without having to remove any "mounting bolts" that I would have to do with other models.
Thank you for your feedback.

I bought one; but it won't work with my bike. I Have A 08 KAWASAKI vulcan nomad. Front tire is to big. Other than that it looks like a great product.

I have the grey harbor freight chock that you roll the bike up onto. it is removable but it does not work that great. i have a Harley FXRS with dual disc'sand the wheel fits but even with tie downs i had my bike tip over when a strap came unhooked and the chock really did not hold the bite up as it should have.

We have been using the Black Widow one price version of this one. Works great!
I always trap the tire to the stand then strap the bike down to the D rings.

While it might be fine and I too like keeping it simple, something makes me nervous about not having the chock secured to the floor. My Wheeldock Chock just has a couple of anchors that go in the floor. With a couple of turns the Allen head flat head bolts release the chock and then a couple turns the other way after you remove the chock and they screw down flush into the floor. Takes all of 30 seconds and leaves a flat floor when removed.

Taken -
What type of screws did you use on your Thunderbolt to install the chocks?
Most Thunderbolts have one of the gas tanks in the area the chocks need to be installed.

I haven't yet... Two weeks from today we go and get it... However on my last hauler, a Road Warrior 30C I found that even if the area you want the chock is above a fuel tank, the fuel tank doesn't run all the way up to the garage decking. There is a few inch gap. Also, the tank was not centered but rather set towards one side so the other side was completely unobstructed. I'm hoping it will work out the same with the new rig. Plus I've got 14' to work with instead of 10' on the last one so more to work with...
As to the bolts, they came with the chock. Here's a link to show exactly what I have. WheelDock Motorcycle Wheel Chock - EZ Up Center Stand

We have a 12' garage , 2 gas tanks centered. They both look like they touch the deck. Also looks like fresh water tank next to gas tanks.
The 14' garage may have more space underneath.
Not sure how the Hyperlites are configured.

I have the Condor that I use for my Softail. Holds the bike firmly without straps if needed; easily removable. Great quality.

I use the Condor on my Road Glide Ulta, over 800 lbs dry. It's very secure and works great. It's kind of pricy but probably the best out there. I did not bolt it in on this camper and use four straps. I never worry about it.

What is your tire to fat ? seems you have a 16" rim this harbor freight model should handle it .

Bought a Condor off ebay. Don't see a reason to secure to floor, went 3000 miles and it didn't move. The rear tire is another story, it wants to move to the right or curb side. I have a simple fix now, but haven't tried it out. One mistake I made was to adjust for a smaller tire, and it took two men and a boy to get the bike off of it. I loosened it up and it works great. Whether this one or a different brand they work great for holding the bike during an oil change. Like this one:

Thank you all for your replies. I will be trying out the HB free standing model sometime this spring when I get the TH. I will report back on my experience then.
Happy camping...

My WheelDock chock I used the mounting plates, the front plates would fit under the floor between the fuel tanks and the water tank, the rear plates are above the water tank I mounted those countersunk into the floor with threaded anchors and 1/4 inch bolts. There is room between the bottom of the floor and the top of the water tank for screws or bolts.

Made a T-shaped anchor that would tie down to the D rings then bolted the chock to it.

On my old TH I used the ones from harbor freight on my roadkings. I put a flatbar between the 2 bikes and used the d rings in the XLR. No attatchment to floor. Worked fine except like said before on baggers, the fenders were tight. I machined the tire holder on bottom by .5 inch to clear the fender.
