Pin Box question

I posted this question in my other thread but thought I would make a separate one to see if it gets more attention.

I have a 2015.5 gmc 3500 CC SB and my new Nitro 305 has the long pin box. Currently it hits my tonneau cover rail. Is there any reason not to put a med length pin box on for more box clearance. MorRyde makes one that is 8.75" shorter. I am going to hook up to the camper and take some measurements but with the current setup I have plenty of room between the truck and camper. I have about 12" between the open tailgate and the camper when hooked up. Is there a Minimum I need to maintain for turning? I have a super glide Hitch. I think this would be a better solution than adding the 3" spacer under the super glide.

You have the shorter version of what I have! Tow's so nice, doesn't it?

I have the shorter pin box, and about 4" between open tailgate and camper. Works great for me. I have a long box, but still. As long as you are smart and aware of the cab corners.

I have only towed in about 90 miles so far but yes it towed very nice. Did you change the pin box on yours? I hooked up again today and turned it until it made contact The last picture shows roughly how much shorter the med length pin box would be which is about 8.75"

this is showing how much higher the pin box would be with the 3" riser under the hitch. it would clear the top of the tonneau rails by about 1.5"

I contacted lippert about changing the pin box under warranty and they replied with this statement

"As far as changing the style of the pinbox. We don't advise due to the statement below.

Modifications done to the Original Equipment that result in damage or failure of a product may not be considered for warranty coverage."

Im not sure what I should do..?? open to opinions
thanks

Is there any way you can install a spacer of some sort (ie, like washers or something custom made) under your hitch to raise it (and thus your clearance) a bit? Longer bolts would likely be needed, make sure they're the right grade.

this is what the 3" riser that pullrite sells. it wouldn't be to hard to make if I can find the right size steel. I just still worry that in uneven terrain it might still make contact when turning sharp...

Does it ride as nose high as it looks in the second picture?

I wouldn't let that general statement deter you from changing the pin box. That's a CYA statement. If you greased the slide and it broke and they could prove that the grease caused the breakage, they wouldn't cover it under warranty. Same deal with the pin box. If you put the MorRyde pin box on and it failed then it would be MorRyde's obligation to repair whatever damage it caused, not Lippert's. That's all they're saying.

No it actually sits pretty level. in that pic the road the trailer is on slopes away from where where the truck is. Its deceiving in the other picture. Here is shot on level ground

It actually looks a little nose low in that pic, so raising it a little wouldn't hurt anything. So now you have a choice. Install a new pin box or raise the hitch.

Did you ask Lippert if they had a shorter pin box that would work with the unit? If you're concerned about that warranty statement, that may be an option.
