Propane tank covers

Anyone had any experience with the vinyl propane tank covers? If so what brand have you found is the strongest? I am looking for a black one. I have found a grey one at Camping World RV Tank Cover - Product - Camping World but I thought that I had seen a black one online somewhere.

I believe that tank covers are not made in black due to the fact that black will attract a lot of heat which is bad for propane tanks.The extra heat on the tanks may cause the pressure in the tanks to increase to a point that the pressure relief valve may vent out propane.

Had a similar cover on our last camper, think it was a Camco brand. It lasted about two years before the moisture destroyed the press board that holds the cover flat. It also held moisture in so that the tanks both rusted and there was corrosion/rust on the hardware and regulator. It looked nice while it lasted, but wish I had never put it on once I realized the dampness issue. The plastic cover on our new camper has much better air flow and access. The hard plastic covers now come in a shorter 20 pound size for about the same cost as the vinyl zipper covers plus they should last years longer.

Check on Ebay. The have black plastic covers but no vinyl ones that I can see.

I had vinyl covers for years on all my previous trailers. I found that the one sold by the rv dealers with their logo on them are the thickest and the most durable. If you tell him that your next trailer will be from his place, he will give you a deal. And with his logo on it you makes publicity for him at the same time.

According to the sales guy at my local RV shop the vinyl covers usually don't last long. For the longest time I kept looking at it anyway thinking it would be easier to deal with but then my hardcover started coming off and on easier.

Howerver, I'm going to order either a Camco bronze or champange color plastic tank cover next week. The black cover really doesn't go with my trailer and it would get too hot. The RV shop said they could return without any restocking fees if I don't like it.
