Question about load - boy this is confusing.

I may have the opportunity to swap our trailer for a 19hfs XLR and I have been trying to learn as much as possible about towing capacities.

Maybe someone can help me a bit. Here goes.

XLR 19hfs

Trailer Weight: 4,372 +
Bike: 815 (wet) +
Gear for two: 500 +
Gas, misc etc: 500

Total: 6,187

Tongue Weight: 618 (assuming 10% - most of bike is over axels and behind)

2011 Ford F-150 XLT 4x2 - Ecoboost
Trailer towing package but not max tow.
3.15 gearing

GCWR: 14,000
Max loaded Trailer weight: 8,500
Max tongue without WD: 500
Max tongue with WD: 1,130

Base Curb Weight: 5,287
Gear / People in truck / full tank: 544

Can someone take a quick look and see if this is going to be an issue? I have tried to plug in the numbers but I am not exactly sure if I have everything.

What is the trailers GVWR? What is the trucks ready to travel weight? That means full of gas, people gear etc etc etc.

I hate to tell you this but I am going to work up your numbers. That 3.15 rear is going to just kill you.

Yeah. I expect that. The surveyor 189 pulls fine mostly in 6th but this is a couple thousand more. Luckily we live in south Georgia and spend most of our time in Florida. Flat as a pancake.

GCWR - 14,000 pounds
GVWR - 7100 pounds
Max Payload - 1760 pounds
Curb Weight - 5340 pounds (as equipped)
Max Trailer weight (Travel Trailer) - 8800 pounds

The Trailer:

UVW - 4372 with a hitch of 532 = % Tongue = 12.2%
GVWR - 7532 with a 12.2% tongue = 919 pounds


Using your numbers for your camper of 6187 pounds loaded
and 544 pounds of gear in the truck (including hitch weight):

The truck will weigh hitched 5340 + 544 + 755 tongue = 6639 pounds
Good To Go!

Camper will weigh 6187 (less than 7532) - Good To Go!

Your Combined weight of 12,826 pounds (less than 14,000) - Good To Go!

So, the good news is you will be "legal" and the bad news is your rear end will make your gas bill high.
