Rear Electric Bed 27HFS

Just wondering if anyone can comment on the height of the rear electric bed? This trailer is new to me and although I have lowered the bed, as low as it seems to go, it still seems that it is higher than I would think it should be; four feet or so off the floor of the trailer?

If anyone can confirm this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi blanket1! I am new to the Forest River Forum, and am still learning how to navigate! My husband and I just purchased a new XLR Thunderbolt 35x12 5th wheel toy hauler. We will be driving from Missouri to Ohio to pick up our new RV. I have only seen photos of our new rig, (my salesman has been so awesome to send me tons of photos!). Ours also has the 2 queen beds in the garage that lower. I am told that top bed has a smaller ladder that is used to climb up on. What kind of unit do you have? Oh I just saw how to view the Profile....you have a beautiful rig!

I just installed the optional 2nd bunk in my 27HFS, and I remember corectly, the top bunk stops just above the top of the window, and the bottom stops just below the window. I don't have an accurate measurement as of now, but I can check it out this weekend. Also you can check the manual for the bunk system, it will show you the possibilities for the L shaped brackets that mount to the hoist system. If they are flipped so the horizontal piece is on top, you can flip them over to lower the bunk a few more inches! Just need to pull the pins securing the bunk, move the bunks out of the way, remove the 2 screws on each L brackets (FYI the spacers will fall out also), flip them, and put the screws back in.

Hope this helps!

Not a very good pic, but you can see where it is in regards to the window. I have the L brackets down on the bottom bunk, and up on the top bunk.

Are your beds comfortable? I can feel the cross rungs in mine. I couldn't see myself sleeping on it.

Mine was the same way, I bought 2 sheets of 3/8" plywood, and cut it to fit, then put several of the roll up foam camping mats (also cut to fit in a single layer) under the mattress. Much better now! I did the same for each bunk. I think the measurement was 86.5"x60".

Yes, that's the correct height!

TrailerTrash78 - I see you have a photo of an XLR Thunderbolt! I have been searching for folks that own that particular RV! My husband and I just bought a 2012 XLR Thunderbolt 35x12. We are set to drive to Ohio next week to pick it up! I am very excited! I have never been in a Thunderbolt, and fell in love with it online!
