Granted insulation isn't good, probably due to very thin walls as much as anything else; if you then bought the Extreme Package would your expectations be higher than if you didn't? I am sure it is some better than without. Then knowing it isn''t well insulated why not outfit it with an ample furnace?

If I had to guess WW, I'd say average user usage combined with price point. I think there are a ton of variables considered when deciding on all the options, standards, and price. The goal is to appeal to the largest crowd possible at any given price point. On the insulation/furnace issue, I'd bet they are not only considering weight but also how often the average buyer camps in weather that is beyond the trailer's comfort zone.

I'm good with that, Taken. I'll just keep adding Wave 6's til Momma's happy. I love them, but have to be careful with unvented heaters.

I agree...if I bought something touted as "extreme weather package" I would expect a little more as well and I would hope it would be better than a unit without that option, but then again no ultra light camper is going to be fit for 10 degree weather, regardless of the brand...just not enough "stuff" in and under it and heavy enough construction to be better suited for cold weather elements IMO. Always trade offs in choosing a unit I suppose...and lots of options out there (which is what makes it fun shopping!)

Disclaimer- Thanks for listening ,very much appreciated and joining in---- my statements are not to be taken personal but my opinion and 2nd night camping in my brand new FR 2016 XLR Hyper Light 29 and me being very Blunt.

The challenge is to stay in the bedroom in 35 degrees or lower with both bathroom doors open or even close one door - it won't matter --the heater cannot heat the toyhauler to a livable tempature - I purchased the extreme package - In this industry Extreme package means it' mountain worthy to stay in --- Now if it just was the called the weather / sound proofing package I would be fine but FR is calling and charging for an Extreme Weather Package!

I should not have to put the proper Heater in a brand new 2016 XLR Hyper Light 29 that in my opinion and experience 100% needs at least a 30-35BTU heater The 19BTU heater is not even close and I can't believe FR doesn't know this...

I too have been hike in camping, motorcycle camping, mountain camping, and RVing over 40years -

The whole Purchase and delivery has been a 10 - Im very happy with the purchase of the 2016 XLR Hyper Light 29 - it's exactly what I was looking for--- Except The Heater and here's the problem - as soon as I get home I'm going to have to order a bigger heater So my wife won't have the experience what I had 2 night ago..........we camp year around and won't be able to do so until I replace heater to one that can actually heat the TH - disappointing

FR needs to terminate their extreme package - and not mislead customers, get rid of the sticker that has any Blue on the thermometer- it's not true.

Once again these are state forward, hard facts that need to be addressed.

Thank you for Taking the time to respond and hopefully FR can correct This issue -

I will be sending FR a email too addressing this - and hopefully Resolve this

Once again I hope nobody takes any of my comments personal -

It been a great adventure and soon to be home w my wife in 4 more hours ..... This is just the beginning of all the adventures I plan on in my new 2016 XLR Hyper Light 29

Thanks to all the other members for great feedback and community

I didnt realize the heater was 19k btu...that does seem a bit small..I can understand your concerns better (now that I actually realize how small the furnace is)...

I special ordered the extreme weather package and paid extra for it too --- - it's sold as an extra insulation package that includes double Payne window, Radiant floor, Roof, slide out floor and insulation on front noise, plus 12V heated tanks -- now does that sound like a summer package only for summer 😜😜😜😜😜 the 12v heated tanks only turn on below 40degrees so you would think the heaters could heat the TH below 35 degrees - It can't - but it could w a 35btu heater that's all I'm saying

.

The heater issue can be a big pain . The dealers or forest river can't even get correct weights or cargo capacity. I've looked at units with much more then mine and they show a lower dry weight and higher cargo .
First thing i do is get an empty weight . I can go from there

Since it seems the ducting is all under cabinets you may want to insulate them also . every little bit helps . the first thing I'm doing is insulating the underneath

Road trip Seattle to Ohio 2016 XLR Hyper Light 29

North Star

I hope everybody takes in ---all my constructional criticism - and we keep passing on information that helps everybody out - now and in the future.

This is my first adventure with my new TH - just me and my Dad doing a road trip - u can't put a price on that adventure and the heater deal was part of that adventure - and the heater can be upgraded to my needs, plus - kinda funny having my dad sleep in the garage though😜 especially when he has a 40ft Phaeton Prevost Bus - - and so we finally get To my home and I can't get my new TH down my driveway lol --its 10 pm pacific time here --- so my adventure goes on in the morning --- switch trucks and hopefully my new TH fits where I'd plan on parking it - to get it down my driveway you have to back it down -- fun stuff 😳😳😳😳

BTW my dry weight per sticker is 7287 and my cargo weight should not exceed 2486 lb so I will be pretty much at the upper end of my TH range - But well within my needs and what I required - I'm glad I did not order the party deck - that would of used up too much valuable weight.

Your Dad is a good sport. And you just made a memory; and its priceless!

I've heard and it seems to be true; you buy a new camper about 80% to 90% finished.

I have a time getting my TH maneuvered under the canopy and I'm on 10 acres. Someone planted pines and didn't think about the " 200 ft " turning radius. I'm going to pull in straight; unhook, then use the tractor. With a ground guide I can put it anywhere with it... Just can't see where I'm going.

Play Harder,
I can't thank you enough for all the information shared on your "road trip" with your Dad. I have learned a lot about what to do and to expect with my new TH. I'm very excited to pick up my TH in about a month.

Happy Camping...
