Slide Out Cover Clearance

I would like to install a Sideout Kover III on my Nitro 31 FQSL. The rig has two opposing slideouts. I'm worried about the curbside slideout. This slideout is under the main awning and it will be very tight clearances. Has anybody installed a slideout cover on a slide that is under the awning?

Update: I installed a Sideout Kover III on the main slide and kitchen slide. The main slide has minimal clearance but there was enough room.

Good job! I've been thinking about slide covers but just haven't justified the expense in my mind yet.

RJ, did you do the work or did you have it done? It seems difficult to figure out the right parts, but I am going to look into Kover II.

I did the work (and by myself). I ordered from shadepro.net. Their website provided easy input variables to determine the correct sizes. I was able to customize colors (case and awning material) as well. It took about a week to build and deliver. Installation was straightforward. The most difficult part was sliding the corded awning in to the awning bracket. A second person would've made it even simpler. I've seen your work on these forums, this job wouldn't test your skills

Thanks for that, R3J; excellent work.

I don't think there exists a match for the fabric / material of my awning, wish there was. I will check out shadepro.net... what awning material did you choose?

Just a question if your awning is covering the slide out why would you need a slide out topper?

Not my camper, but my experience is that I don't always out my awning out, but do always want my slides covered.

I guess that is true, but my awnings are always out, so that is where my question came from. I see your point, if I pull in for just a night I'll put my slide out but will not put the awnings out, just so I don't have to go through tying them down...Good point

I've also been a few places that I couldn't get the dog tie down screwed into the ground. It's actually that way here- I finally ordered my "the claw anchoring" thingers.

Will do.

Amazon; $77 for the "aw in tie down kit" w/ free prime shipping. But they also had individual claws for $21 + shipping (which is slower than 2-day prime).

Sorry to the OP for the hijack.

Good question. I originally thought I wouldn't need a slideout cover on the curbside because of the awning too.
I found my awning is so close to the slideout when it rains the awning rests on the slideout flange and begins to pool water. The "auto dump" feature doesn't work because it is resting on the flange. During heavy rains it's imperative to retract the awning or else it'll damage the awning or the trailer. Figured I still want coverage on the slideout during the rains.

Makes senses R3J. I wonder with the awning out and tipped to shed water and a wind has it flapping, does it hit the slide?

Slide Out Cover Clearance

Yes. I can barely tip it before it starts gouging into the slideout flange. It's not the greatest layout.

Given the smooth, curved lines of the Sideout kover III I might be able to tip the awning a little more because it won't be a sharp edge gouging the awning material. We'll see...

Sure. Both sides are Sideout Kover iii's with white vinyl material and a black case. The main slide is part number UP06962JV. The kitchen slide is part number UP10962JV.

Hey R3J. I was wondering if splitting a floatie / noodle and placing along the top edge of the dinette (or is it a couch) slide could "save" the awning from early failure? But, I suppose the Side Kover has round corners?

By the way, I ordered a cover for my slide from them, just now. No shipping and on sale for Labor day. Mine is 91-98" size and was $296. Flange to flange was 94". I looked at another brand and I am sure it was around $350 plus shipping. Thanks for the tip.
