Even with toppers you still get debris/rain on top of slide. Then it is really a pita to remove . We had them, never will again. Just another thing to maintain and replace and the protection they provide is minimal. Did I mention they are noisy in the wind? This another one of those items campers either love or hate . Get them and decide for yourself.

Someone measured wrong then when they ordered them. Mine are wider than the slide and there is no way anything can get in between. They're available in a lot of sizes.

So your storms don't come with any wind? You assume wrong about our toppers that you never saw. Wish I had pictures to show the properly installed slide toppers (from the factory) with debris and water under them after a windy storm. Glad you like your toppers.

I love our toppers too! I ordered them factory installed on all 4 slides.
They provide a lesser chance of slide seal leaks and help combat heat since they shade the slide top.
Only down side i have is the large slide topper isn't tensioned enough so it holds water if it rain real hard.

Of course. Rain, wind, and all. I'm attaching pics so you can see how they should be. I measured, ordered, installed them myself because I wanted them right. There is no way anything can get under there. You can see on the leading edge it's real close to the slide out upper edge. They also extend 5 or 6 inches past the box of the actual slide.

Had CW install on 3 slides. Lots of wind, no noise. Tight, so no rain accumulates. In the last year only 1 leaf has been found inside on top of a slide in the 5er. Never be without them ~~ unless I decide playing monkey climbing ladders or getting on the roof to blow/sweep the slide roof before retracting sounds exciting.

Your pics are kinda blurry and hard to see, but i dont think my factory installed toppers extend that far out the sides

Yeah its time for a new phone. The outside lens filter is gone and that's the result. My wife wasn't around to use hers like I normally do.

I found an old file photo from my install. I hope this is more clear. As you can see the cover is well past the slide out flange and seal. Hope this helps.
What I'm trying to say is measure so that you get full coverage.

^Agree agree agree^
We have them now on our 34' 5er, we are close to pulling the trigger on a ordered in 2017 XLR 422AMP, and do NOT want them on the new rig period!.
For what little they provide, not worth it. One trip, we had a "micro-burst" come in over night, it ripped the 2 back toppers, still functional but then my wife says "do we really need them?" I said nope, removed and have been happier ever since. I brought in the main awning in the front that night knowing of a possible high wind storm coming into the area, but if I have to roll in the slides also? Nope, no way.
Speaking of snow (or in our case wet slush), we had to get up on the roof (or you could of used a tall ladder which we didn't have along with us) and sweep off the slush anyways! In the hot summer, I see no cooling difference as well, at least measurable.
This is my 4th large camper, and I just (now) prefer no toppers after having experience WITH them.
I guess it's like sugar and cream (or not!) in your coffee, but I just have experience saying that I don't like toppers {for reasons above}.
Cheers mates

I bought Carefree Kover III via Shade Pro for my Hyperlite. Carefully following the instructions would have resulted in almost no slope, although I admit read, read and read the again. I think instructions could be better. But, I love it. Its white and keeps the slide cooler. There is no noise from wind. There is no debris on the slide roof. I don't blow it off; I just bring it in and whats there falls off. It just came home after a month in SC with a couple of nearby trees dropping all their leaves and absolutely nothing made it under the cover and unto the slide roof.
Shown is the spoiler I made and stuck in front of it to keep wind from blowing under the vinyl while driving, probably unnecessary.

That's some nice work. I don't see any fasteners. How is the spoiler attached?

Looks like 3M double stick moulding tape is holding it on.
