Spare/Flat tire prep
Hi Guys,
I just picked up a spare tire for my 29HFS and wanted to see what you guys are doing to prep for a flat. My truck has a jack and I'm bringing a 1/2 in. drive with socket for the wheel removal but wanted to see what you guys are doing. I'm thinking a better bottle jack or even a small roller jack, what have you guys used changing your flat tires?

I went with a stubby from Lowes.
Short enough to fit under the spring U-bolt with a flat tire but will lift enough to put the spare on.
Electric impact to remove and tighten the lug nuts.

You are going to get all sorts of replies that tell you what or what not to do. You are taking the right steps might want to include wood to rest your jack (which ever you use) on. I think you are going in the right direction.

Play "Make believe" at your Home before you travel! Plan for "Soft ground,sand,unlevel location,and cribbage"! You might encounter the need to crib and start to jack again if the ground is soft!  Youroo!!

Lately I've been carrying the Andersen rapid Jack and 3/4" plywood - 1' x 4" so far, no flats although I did test to see how it works. I used to carry a 10 ton bottle jack but stopped carrying all that wood around. I have Good Sam road side assistance as well.

Only have had one flat so far and had a 4 way with me. So first I loosened the lugs. Then pull or back up good tire over leveling blocks to raise bad tire off the ground. Take loosened lugs off and put spare tire on. Then back or pull off leveling blocks and tighten lugs down. I do carry a small bottle jack invade it's needed but still haven't used it.

Look into a TravelAide + if you have multiple axels. Not familiar with your model.

I think he meant Trailer Aid:
Camco Trailer Aid PLUS, Yellow - Walmart.com
If you get one, make sure it works. It doesn't get you high enough on some TT's.

I have a 4 ton bottle jack and 1/2 inch drive 24" long breaker bar with extension and socket in one of the storage totes. If the tire just happens to be low, I have a on-board air system on my truck and it has come in very handy a couple of times helping others out.

Love the TrailerAid. I had to bolt a piece of Trex on the bottom of it to make it tall enough to lift the tire off the ground. Could have used a 2x6, but the Trex was thick enough and is lighter.

12 ton bottle jack . lithium ion 350ftlbs 1/2 impact wrench used to loosen only . also the andersen rapid jack .

Did my dry run and it's a pain with the trucks jack, I think I'll get the trailer aid since it looks like the smoothest solution to me, thanks for the help guys!
