STEPS

Well camper has been at dealer for 4 weeks waiting to change my steps from 2 to triple. They had to order in from the factory so I called today to check and see if they came in they told me the steps will not fit the new steps are to wide. I have a 2015 XLR you tell me no body has a step that will fit my camper. Anyone else change theirs from 2 to 3 step if so let me know the model and make.
Thanks Mickey Moto

Hey MM, why don't you post your current steps width. Then maybe someone could better help you find the right size steps. Need something to go on.

Yea, I want a third as well for my 29 XLR. Maybe an add on. Can you add a third, any such device exists?

Try Americanrvcompany.com. Plenty of steps there plus custom options.

Forest River told me yesterday they don't have triple to fit my camper. Wow sure seems like someone dropped the ball on this model. My housing is 25 1/4 all triple steps are 27 1/2 wide you can't even cut the brackets off and weld them back because you would have to cut away some metal. Then the back steps would be off center.

I did find a company online that does make one that hangs on the bottom step sorry I don't remember the name of the company.

I think the add on step or the one I posted is your best bet. I have one for our trailer and it's not always even necessary. Plus it's height adjustable so works in all situations.

I searched and found 3 step on Amazon. $161. I assume your step is 24" like mine... 25-3/8" outside to outside width.

I had new bolt on step brackets made and were shipped to the dealer. Just found out about it Friday. It was explained to the dealer what needed to happen to make this work.

They are the exact same bracket that is in your unit now except that they will bolt on vs. welded on. The dealer will need to cut the old ones off and bolt the new ones on. Then the metal will need to be trimmed and install the steps. Had I known about this 4 weeks ago when you took it to the dealer it would have been done a long time ago.

Sorry OC, I thought they were on my phone. Had to fire up the computer. This step extension works great. My wife loves it and we have used it several times. OC did a great job building it and it is much appreciated. Before and after I painted it.

I don't remember how many different adjustment holes there are, but at least 2 or 3 to let the step down if required.

Thanks for posting the pictures John.
