Stereo randomly turns on

Hi all, in the middle of the night our stereo turned on. I push the button to turn it off, see the "good-bye" message, and then after differing time intervals (3 seconds to 3minutes), it will turn on again. Any ideas?

Its not sleepy?
My radio (not the OEM) will turn on when after DC power is turned off, it is restored again. It wants to enter the demo mode. So, loose connection to 12v power? Power to it is via from a DC circuit for living room (lights etc) with connectors behind the radio... have to slide out to see.

There are several different radios available, so you might want to add that info to your post.

Thanks...we ended up pulling off the security face plate, and when we used it again, it seemed to correct itself.

I had that problem once with my wildcat stereo. After an extensive search online I for the solution but don't remember it now. Basically, my 2 year old granddaughter had pushed a button that set it to go off and there was a certain process to resetting it. Was simple but had to be done. A Google search like 'x-brand RV stereo turning on by itself' may find that solution.
Think it had to do with the bottom right button. Too long ago now. Good luck.

Hi,

Failing to find a cause for this in my Silverback, I am now in the habit of turning the volume to zero when I'm done listening to something.

That way, when it comes on in the middle of the night I can't hear it.

FWIW.

This is what I found out to be the cause on ours. I thought it was more like a sleep timer to shut it off, boy was I wrong

Plus one on battery causing radio to do weird things. Ours wouldn't turn on without pulling and resetting fuse when battery was shot. New battery and it works like it should is your battery weak?

I found an old thread with my post at the end. Look there to see if this solves your gremlin problem.
