Trying to decide between 2 Xlr's any input
Going to look at a 2011 XLR 23fbv this weekend. Trying to decide between that one or the 27HFS. Haven't seen either of them yet but I did go look at a Funfinder 276. Was not to impressed by it. So hopefully the XLR's will be better. Anyone know the differences in build quality between the 23 (viper) and 27 (hyperlite)?

While you wait for others to chime in I wanted to welcome you to the forums! Seeing a unit in person can be an eye opener as you try to vision yourself using the unit.

They both are built with laminated walls so the strength is there. The Viper 23FBV is 102" vs 96" on the Hyperlite and of course the v-front. Otherwise they are similar build quality. You can't go wrong with an XLR.

My advice would be to stay away from the 27 Hyperlite altogether. We purchased a 2013 hyperlite two months ago and have had nothing but trouble. We would not do it again...should have went with a Raptor.
Replaced water pump, water tank leaked, windows leak, ect.
The place we bought it from tells us this is to be expected. SERIOUSLY?
IMHO Forest River and Dave's RV in Claremore Oklahoma suck!

We went with the XLR 29 Foot because it has a slide. The slide makes a huge difference in living space. We changed the Murphy bed to a happi-jac bed that lowers from the.ceiling. We have not had any issues with our trailer and are very happy with XLR. This trailer is heavier than the two you are looking at and we pull it with a RAM 2500 diesel pickup.

And what makes you think you would have zero problems with a raptor. All rvs have problems but some do have more than others. A raptor could have just as many problems if not more than your xlr or it could not have had any. Some times it can be hit and miss.

I don't have one yet, but we are looking. We have 2 good friends that have XLR's and in the year they have had them there has been no warranty work on them at all.

Angela - every single RV is going to have a few items needing attention after your initial "shakedown trip" but your issues mentioned are NOT what you can "expect" in an XLR. I would invite you to call our warranty department at 574-975-0292 and speak with Diane concerning the issues that need to be resolved if your dealer is not taking care of them.

And I'll be the guy who can tell you about both. I had a Raptor, and besides it being the biggest piece of CRAP I ever owned in my life, Keystone was a DISASTER to deal with! We only had it 3 years and there was never a trip that something didn't break or work because of their inferior workmanship. We took a pretty good hit to trade it in, but the XLR we got has been absolutely awesome. We have had a few minor things, and have dealt with Diane Daly at Forest River warranty. What a complete turn around from the warranty depaertment at Keystone. And you want to talk about quality/fit/finish- like night and day. Those morons at Keystone gave me enough camping stories to write a book.

We have a 27hfs 2012 and have been very happy with it. No warranty issues. We did contact them for some owners manuel paperwork and got an immediate response.

The double queen in my Puma 27sbu has a sticker on the wall by the switch that says 600 lb capacity, I take that as being for both combined, not each.

I think the 600lbs is the load limit for the happijac system. But I wonder what the actual bed that forest river puts on the track system will hold.
