Using the Onboard generator

We have only had our trailer for a few weeks and I just tried started the generator to see what it powers. I could not get the A/C or the microwave on with the generator. Is there a switch or something I have to turn on while using the generator? Everything worked great with shore power.

Check to see if your power cable can plug into a receptacle near the generator. My bro found this out to be the method on his Winnebabo...

If its on board gen built in then this is not needed. It's already wired. I think there is a switch that makes it transfer but I'm can't remember. Some one will tell you.

Its true perhaps your shore power cord must be plugged into a wall mounted receptacle. There also may be installed an auto transfer switch which closes when the generator builds voltage. Opens shore power contact connects the generator to the RV bus. This cannot happen however if the two circuit breakers on the side of the generator are open, maybe from original build. They are small toggle switches under the insulated cover of the gen set right on the side of the generator itself, not the driving engine. Let us know.

Ya got a 2014 trailer wirhout documentation? Trade it for a tent, much less technical problems.
