Water tanks falling out of trailer

Yesterday we started out on a 14 day southwest USA tour. Made it to Amarillo and pulled into the Wally World for the night. Noticed that the freshwater tank had come loose and tore through the underbelly and was hanging on the wiring. This is the maiden voyage for our 2019 thunderbolt. Called coach net and they sent out a mobile mechanic. Took both of us working till 3 am to get the thing movable. Cost me 500 bucks also.

The tank issue is not new many rigs have had this problem including mine which I pulled the coroplast and mfged extra supports to hold the tank in place. As for the pics when you are writing your post hit the "Go Advanced" button and when the menu opens hit choose attachment then upload. Don't hold me to the exact sequence but once you open advanced you see.

That is the Paper Clip ICON... choose it to upload a picture...

A number of threads in the past year or so about failed fresh water tank mounts. Do a search...

My water tank on my 2017 Forest River Mini Lite 2605S be came loose only because I left the water hose running in the fill port and the tank filled up and built up pressure (vent pipe unable to keep up with water pressure coming in) and the tank expanded bending the supports downward.. Moral of the story.. don't over fill your water tank by leaving the running hose in the fill port. !!

Tanks are basically mounted three ways in a TT.
Inside under a couch or cabinet, supported by the floor.
Suspended under the floor with a couple pieces of angle iron that hold the extended sections at the upper portion of the tank. Not good as it's just like trying to lift/carry a full pot in your kitchen using just your fingers to grip the rim.
Third method is to support the tank by the bottom edges on angle iron. If this method is executed properly there will be one or two "tie pieces" secured to the angle iron to keep it from spreading.

My 2018 uses the last method with 2 tie bars that arent going anywhere unless I pull my trailer over a stump or something similar.
My guess is that many of these issues occur with new designs and as the design matures the factory adjusts.

Would certainly pay to inspect this area even if one has to go to the trouble of lowering an edge of the belly cover. That or cutting an inspection flap and just taping it closed with Gorilla Tape.

My old 95 Terry had top rail supports on all tanks. I loosened bolts in slots, smacked rails so they were tight against top extensions, then tightened bolts TIGHT. Proceeded to go across the country for the next 22 years with full water tank and never had it come loose.
