Started bolting down the tie-downs. The factory ones were screwed into those steel plates you described on yours, so they were more secure than I originally thought. The bolts had a sheet-metal screw-like tip on them. I couldn't get a nut to go on that, so I'm just buying new machine bolts to replace them, with washers and nylock nuts. The front center one is the only one I can't get to--it's up under the belly insulation, and I really don't want to pull all that down.

The unit is going back to the dealer today to have my punch list of stuff fixed while we're still under warranty. We'll see how that goes...

Looked at my trailer today and wished I was out enjoying it this weekend.
If only I could get out with it every weekend!!

I built a really great outdoor television area in my 24HFS. I basically drilled a simple hole under the queen mattress and I run the cable from the "bedroom" into the storage hatch. I mounted a swing mount inside the storage hatch that lets me pull it completely out at any angle or watch inside the storage hatch if it is sunny or potential rain. The best part is I have outdoor tv that i can simply lock up at night without moving the tv.

Well no pics yet but today I managed to accomplish a couple of things.

Installed some mud flaps on the trailer, should assist in keeping from the tires back from being sand blasted.

Adjusted the pin hight on my hitch, added air bags to the truck so it would sit level. That caused the trailer to sit pin high. Now she is level again.

And yesterday was sad, I picked up the anti freeze to winterize the trailer. Thankfully I still have a planned few weekends before I tackle that job.

Thanks Bowtie,

I've not been off road or on a non-paved road to see this problem, but not a bad idea for when I do. I want to put these on the truck, but that's a lot of greenbacks!

RoadMaster RoadWing Removable, Expandable Mud Flap System for RVs, Buses and Dual-Tire Trucks Roadmaster Accessories and Parts RM-4400-102

My 2500 doesn't need help with the weight, but I do have WDH, but even that isn't taking much weight off the truck; just enough to let the twin cam work.

Antifreeze, already? Where do you live? I'm getting ready for north GA, for Fall mountain riding (no pun intended!.. I hope!)

Wolf.

Took SweetThing (my 29hfs) to Camper's Inn yesterday for the axles to be swapped for the 5200# units FR was so gracious to have sent to them. Yea, Diane Daly! You all probably know that the 4400# axles were installed on 2015s and possibly late 14s, lowering the cargo capacity of the unit. They were also installed improperly allowing bottoming-out. Dealers and brochures were did not reflect this change and some of us even have weight stickers that are wrong from the factory.

Installed a Camco Olympia Wave 6 catalytic heater on the sink cabinet (over the access panel for the water heater) near the fridge. See pics. The challenge was finding the 90 degree fitting, which I got from Walmart, for the best price; once I knew the part number (Camco 57633) it was easy.

If we used the garage to live or sleep in, I would be buying another, but we will keep it sealed off in hot or cold weather. The heater and the AC unit cannot keep up. I would also be looking at adding another AC in the garage. I see Adventure RV has a 15K heat pump on sale, BTW.

I also (finally) installed the cabinet door catches for the overhead cabinets in the slide and the bedroom (5 of them)... so they can be latched in the open position. No pic.

Today's projects:

-Tap lights under the Happi-jack bed for both added brightness and "mood lighting" in the garage.

-Tap lights in the master closets.

-Mount the Dish receiver on the wall next to the TV, route all cables. This project will have its own thread shortly.

-Install adhesive cup holders on the wall at each end of the couch. Gotta have a place to put your beer.

-Semi-permanently install the black stove cover. I say semi-permanently because I really didn't want to drill holes in the countertop to screw the hinge into (what if I don't like the thing?) so I used a long strip of Velcro to keep it from moving around. We'll see how it holds up.

I'll snap some pics when I get a chance. This week is a little nuts, way too many appointments and stuff to do--including Limp Bizkit in Philly Tuesday night! But I'll get back to the XLR at some point...

Added Keypad door locks to both doors. It's going to be nice not to have to carry around the keys or make sure I hide them anymore.Click image for larger version

Has anyone changed out the small compartment locks with the nicer slam latches like on most fifth wheels? I want to do this to my 29HFS

Wolfwhistle, got my axles changed yesterday as well. Forgot to measure the before height so I'm not sure how much it raised the height. Did you measure yours? General RV did a great job, thanks Ed for the quick turn around. Less than 24 hours, it was almost too quick, I wasn't ready to come back so quick and pick it up. It seemed to pull at speed better, but that could all be in my head. I have to go find a flat area now and reset the ball height, or at least measure it.

Our 27 HFS doesn't have a silverware drawer and was curious if the 29 HFS had one. There is a false panel that I think would accommodate a drawer nicely and wondered if anyone has tackled that mod or approached that issue from another angle. Seriously can't believe FR didn't incorporate one into the cabinetry. Looking for any and all ideas. You guys have done some great mods to your units........way beyond what I have been doing. I feel super inadequate. Thanks guys.
