Winter Camping in 27HFS

This will be my first winter considering taking the 27HFS out on a Winter trip to Colorado. Last year I just took the truck. Are there any special considerations for Winter travel trailer camping such as special tires, water considerations to reduce the likelihood of freezing while on the road, closed campgrounds during the Winter or...?

Does anyone else use their TT in the winter in fairly extreme conditions such as 20-30 F temps?

Thanks.

I towed mine from Michigan to West Virginia in the middle of a winter storm. It was white knuckle for most of the trip.

You have to make sure your trailer brakes are set perfectly. If your trailer brakes engage too much too soon, or your TV brakes are engaged and your trailer brakes don't you could easily lose control. Give yourself double the space between you and the car in front of you an brake easy.

As far as the camping aspect, we used bottled water and facilities provided by where we were staying. It isn't with having frozen pipes. If you are determined to have water hooked up, you should get heat tape for your water inlet and make sure you have tank warmers.

Good luck!

Excellent idea on the electric tape. The trailer does have tank warmers, but I'm not sure how effective they are...guess I'll find out. Thanks for the ideas. Anyone else have experience winter camping either with hookups or dry camping/no hookups in the winter?

They sell prewrapped hoses at camping world. Lots of campers out here. Tiger Run up in Breckenridge has folks staying in -10 degrees with no problem.

Just keep the furnace running, open up cabinet doors where the water pipes are, and have fun, You will use a lot of propane.
