XLR 340X12hp lug nuts and hub

So this is our first RV and I feel dumb asking this but...I've been looking at the hub and lug nuts for the wheels and can't figure out how to get the plastic hub cover off. I can twist the hubs both directions until it stops but can't figure out how to get them off. Also I can't tell if the lugs have plastic caps on them or if they are all metal.

Thanks in advance.

The cap in the center have a small gap to pry off with a screwdriver.

Welcome to the forum!! Exactly, the center piece let's you get to the grease fitting .. Pry off carefully its plastic. The lugs nuts do have decorative SS covers but don't come off.. You can damage them if lug wrench slips off. Or over tightened.

If you want to take the whole cover off, you have to take the wheel off and they come off from the inside. Just push from the outside and they will slide right out.

A thin wall socket fits better than a standard impact.

Thanks for the info...wanted to be prepared instead of trying to figure it out on the side of the road.

Get a 22mm deep well socket, torque wrench, and a 6" extension. Not a bad idea to have a 12T bottle jack with you as well to change a tire!

Nothing is wrong with the least populated state in the continental US, as long as you prepared .....
I can remember way back when I blew two tires and had one spare.... The tire shop said they could order it and would be on the truck in a week... we chained up the axle and limped into Cody. We got on the Web and FedEx delivered the next day.
Headed back in a couple months.

Haha I was just messing with you. Been living in Wyoming my whole life. Wouldn't want to be anywhere else. It being the least populated is what makes it so nice.

I just did this on mine, and after I pulled one wheel/tire to get to the hub, I felt pretty dumb. That little "center cap on the center cap" pops off with a screwdriver as The Kulas stated. Then under that, there is a black rubber dust cap that you also need to pry off (and replace after the greasing, which is even more fun.) That will expose the zerk fitting for greasing. Luckily, the remaining three were much easier!

Good luck!
