XLR generator box

I have a 2018 29HFS. It has a sheet metal generator box installed in the drivers side outside storage. I will never install a generator in that location and the box is taking up space. If the sheet metal box wasn’t there I would have more space and the storage would become pass through.

Has anyone removed the sheet metal generator box?

Can't you just use the empty generator box for storage?

If you remove the box, what about the door? Is it attached to the box? Is it a vented door? If so, what would you use for a replacement that would match the other compartment doors?

If it were mine I'd use it to store things like wheel chocks, Electric and Water hookup items etc. Maybe even my tire changing tools like Jack, lug wrench, etc. Free up the space in other compartments for things that you wouldn't want to put in the generator box.

Just my thoughts.

This is exactly what I do with my generator compartment. Works great.
