I was pulling a 2017 29hfs with a 2015 f150 3.5 ecoboost. (All well within proper weights via scale). I did have the wdh and it pulled ok. Ok at best. I could get it up to speed fine and most importantly brake good. HOWEVER every time there was a headwind I could really feel it. I now pull it with a 2016 f350 diesel and can't even tell it is back there.

Bottom line my opinion, short trips fine long trips...i would pass.

1700 lbs is bike and cargo only. I don't remember my trailer weight but I think the total is around 6500lbs

when i went to the track, a guy next to me was pulling his 27 hfs fine with his F150 Eco.

BUT, after having the 27 HFS, if i could do it again i would get at min. the 29...maybe the 30. not that i dont love the 27, but the side door in the garage is directly under the beds. so if i have either of them down, cant use the side door to the garage is my number 1 complaint. which is kinda a major in the convenience part. that same door is also under the awning in a 29 while in the 27 it is not. that 1 foot difference in garage makes a huge difference apparently in regards to door placement i guess? not to mention that extra foot wood be nice to have as far as motorcycle placement. not that its a huge huge issue, but the bed having access to both sides would be rather nice and convenient to have.

do yourself a favor and get at least the 29 and order it fully loaded from the dealer in Cinncinati,Ohio (brain farting the dealer atm). I maxed everything out other than the tv in the bedroom, tv in the garage, and the convection microwave. i regret not getting the convection microwave...the TVs not so much.

I had a 29hfs that I towed with a 5.7 hemi ram 1500. towed two road bikes from Michigan to Florida for bike week. The only issue i ever had was with two bikes in the back it took away tounge weight and i wouldnt go faster then about 63mph. with only one bike it was smooth as silk. I wont get into a pick up conversation becuase everyone has their opinions but i have heard good and awful about the eco boost vs good ole v8 power.

Try carrying some fresh water in your tank to get your tongue weight where you like it.

Loading Gold Wing

Mine is a Harley Elektra glide. But the guy I bought my H27 from hauled a Goldwing. Said he needed a 2by4 under the the tailgate rack to clear the kickstand. Also it helps to have you trailer raised by the hitch as high as you can. Also, watch your head on the overhead bed.

My scoot is over 200 pounds lighter than a Wing, but is probably as low. I have the shock preload as high as it goes, raise the tongue as much as it takes... and keep my butt off the seat at the critical point (walk while straddling... obviously).

This is not necessarily related to loading difficulty, but my ramp is failing and the weight of a Goldwing up the center of the ramp might be the straw.

I find that backing down the ramp works well if you put it into 1st gear and using the clutch and front brake together, works well... weird in that, you let out on one while pulling in on the other. I could load with my eyes closed, but not literally.

dodge ram ecodiesel 1500 with xlr hyperlite 18hfs

we purchased 18hfs and pull it with dodge 1500 ecodiesel, max hitch weight 1250. Dry weight of trailer approx 5300. We go back and fourth to my sons house from redding ca to reno nv, thru sierra nevada mountain range. Avg 15 mpg, and that is with two Harleys in the garage, Dueces. Have no problems up and down 9 percent grades. Maintain speed limits.

In ID though I do not like going that fast, 80 miles an hour no problem. We are very happy with our set up.

I did pull a 27hfs with the same truck. EZ2 round bar wdh with HD Elektra glide classic. Never had a problem. I have since upgrade to an f350 super duty because I'm considering a bigger hauler this spring.

A little late but I also have a 27hfs it is a 2014
I have pulled it with 3 different trucks. The first was a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 extended cab 4wd, it would pull it on flat ground but any hill you are into 3rd gear and the stability was questionable at 60.
So it was time for a new truck 2014 F250 6.2 gas, it would pull much better more stable but still 3rd and 4th gear on the hills, I was told that was what it was made for but I still had to pay attention to the hills to get a running start or I would be at 45-50 at the top of the hill.
The next truck a 2017 Silverado 3500 6.7 Duramax, this was the answer !First time I pulled it I forgot the hauler was back there a couple of times.
I trade about every 3 years as I drive my trucks for business but with the new one I may keep it a few more years.
We also camp 70 plus nights a year so the bigger truck has taken a lot of the stress of the trip away.
less stress= a better trip
