XLR - Motorcycle Wheel Chocks in Garage

We have an XLR 2011 305V10 and want to secure wheel chocks for the bikes in the garage floor. We believe that the fresh water tank is located below the garage. Has anyone done this successfully/run into problems doing this? We are still in the process of choosing the chocks....so comments regarding types of motorcycle chocks suitable for transport would also be appreciated! Thanks.

We have a 2011 Harley Sportster and a 2007 Harley Dyna Low Rider.

OK, let me see what my brother uses in his toy hauler. He carries his Goldwing and BMW in it, as well as his custom bikes (he has 8 total). He usually only has the best stuff. I'll get back to you when I find out. I know his are on a removable plate that he can take in and out, when he doesn't need them in the way.

I ride a Kawasaki KLR, so I'm cheap (sorry, frugal I should say) and use this one from Harbor Freight, with no problems.

I am looking at the ones below. They are expensive, but I am not looking to secure them to the deck of my Vengenance. Putting a temp stop board across the patio door to the garage and figuring the weight of the bikes and good straps front, back and to hold the bike into the chock should be sufficient. Not making any quick moves with a 36ft 5-er anyway so if things get to shifting I probably have bigger issues to deal with. Figure, I can take them out once on location and use them to secure the bikes when on location. Ride a Honda VTX-1800 and the wife has a VTX-1300.

These can be secured to the deck as well.

I use the Condor "pit stop" and it works really well. You drive into it and it locks in place. You can then put the securing straps on the bike without even using the kick stand. I used it all summer on my Road Guide Ultra without a problem. I recommend it highly.

Thank you everyone for your input. Condors seem to be the way to go. We have heard this before, and there is even a dealer near us in Toronto! We looked at another brand, but it was going to cost $140 extra just to get them to Canada.

My husband would like to secure the chocks into the garage floor, and we were wondering if anyone has done this? We are not certain what is under our XLR garage flooring (plywood?) or how easy it is to remove the freshwater tank directly below the garage....does anybody secure their chocks in floor of their toyhauler? I certainly understand the hesitation to do so.....

We use condor's and added the lock down plates this spring. There is a 100 gal. Fresh water tank under our garage. Used a local independent RV place to add the mounts for under $175. The bolts supplied by Condor were not long enough so he bought some locally. Our garage is our bedroom so we put a rug over the small plates that remain when you pull the chocks. It works great!

Take a look at Wheeldock.com I use it for my Harley Ultra Classic. Drive straight in and out. Works great and is easily removed. I also have used Harbor Freights wheel chock. Don't like it near as much, but for $69, can't beat the price.

I use the Biker Bar in my Puma Unleashed, had limited through the floor mounting options, this worked out perfectly, pricey but so is my FLHX, a loose bike would be a nightmare inside your trailer

Linnemj: Thanks for letting us know that you were able to secure the Condor wheel chock in your XLR (considering the location of the fresh water tank) and the heads-up on the supplied bolts.

Steve: We also liked the Wheel Dock, but unfortunately, you cannot buy them up here, and to have them sent up is almost as expensive as buying a third chock! The company was very helpful and informative however when we did contact them.

PJones: Thanks for the great pic of your Biker Bar, I checked and they are sold in Canada so we will definitely take a closer look at them.

We use a pair of Comdors to secure two dressers, we don't secure them to the floor and haven't have them move an inch.

Had two sets of the removable Pingels in an enclosed trailer. Sold trailer now have the 305V16. I basically mounted Pingels on a flat steel that maintains the stability while the straps keep the bikes in place, do not use kickstands. Used on only one trip so far, works great! I'm not drilling any holes in that floor!

I also use the B&W Bike Bar, 2007 Road Star 1700. No need for tie downs. Just use the clamp on the frame, drive the bike onto the bolted platform on the RV garage floor, the clamp or bar on the bike will securely clamp onto the bolted platform and you're good to go. Again, no need for tiedowns, the 850 pound bike is secured to the floor of the RV garage. The bike bar is a bit pricey at $350, but well worth the ease of use, convenience and knowing the bike is secure. I have a XLR AMP 395, no tanks below my floor, installation was easy, about 1 hour. Good luck...

I made these flush mount anchors from 3/4" all-thread and rod couplings so I can remove mine when not in use, used 3" channel iron underneath to bolt through, roll out the cargo rug, rubber mat and Biker Bar, bolt down from topside with (2) 3/4" cap screws and you're set.
