***XLR Nitro 31FQSL ????

Well sold the 2012 27HFS and now looking into getting a 2016 XLR Nitro 31FQSL but there hard to find in PA to go and look at them.

-Did anybody get the second A/C in bedroom, I was thinking about getting it so I could use it while in the living area and turn living area off so it wouldn't be so loud while watching TV, my 27HFS was so loud we had to buy sound bar to hear TV.

-With the big slide out on the awning side, how much awning is left for sitting under or how far does the awning extend pass the slide.

-Can you open refreg. when slides in.

-The height seems to be 2ft higher than my 27HFS, does anybody no if the extra 2ft is the inside height or does the trailer just set higher off the ground cause of higher axle height or both

I have the 30fqsl. Our ceiling is above 8ft. It might be 8.5 to 9ft as you go further back as it slopes up. Ours are similar in size and I'm fairly familiar with your layout. I have a single 15000btu and it is plenty for GA in mid 90 degree heat, although a second AC could never hurt. Especially if you can't hear the tv. Ours hasn't seemed to be a real problem.

I would assume the fridge could be opened when the slide is in. That would be totally moronic design if it couldn't be. Although I have been wrong before.

The slide under the awning would be a deterrent for me. You get a good amount more space inside, but us having a 16 or 18ft long awning with nothing in the way is great.

There are a few guys on here that I have seen that have the 31fqsl. Maybe they will chime in. Congrats on trading!! You'll like the extra room.

Only thing I will tell you is watch for tree limbs. You are almost towing a semi with the the height of the Nitro trailers. First low bridge I went under at 13ft scared me to death. These models will toss around a 3/4 ton some. It's a lot of weight for a bumper pull. All in all though, we have been extremely happy with ours. The reclining couch is great!!

I got the second AC but in the garage. The garage gets warm (in Florida camping) without the garage AC running. I strongly recommend the second AC for southern states.

The big slideout eats up a lot of real estate under the awning. There is still enough room to sit under the awning while raining though. As long is it is not a driving sideways rain.

You cannot fully open the refer while slideout is in. Just enough to get a beer Also you cannot access the kitchen area while the large slideout is in. The bathroom is readily accessible with both slideouts in.

The Nitro is tall. I measured mine at 13'3" to the top of the garage AC. I wince while driving under trees. I can't compare to the 27hfs but the interior ceiling is outta my reach without a stool. All fantastic fans are wall button controlled.

Here's some pics.

The awning is what we are worried about, I wished they would have used two awnings instead of one. Have a small one in front and long one over slide and rear door.

By the sound of thing the 31 is getting close to a 5'er size but bumper pull. I have a dually so it should pull it little better.

Mainly the 2nd A/C is for the noise. I was also wondering about how they do the ducted A/C, do they use both or just use the main one and 2nd would be by it self.

I guess I really need to find a 31 and go look at, the 30HDS XLR is our 2nd choice, the 30's slide is little smaller but so is the whole RV.

The living room AC and bedroom AC are ducted together. The garage is non ducted. They pre wired my bedroom for a third AC as well.

is the cargo floor tampered or is flat all the way to the door and did you order the roof ladder or is that standard.

the fans in the 27HFS you can reach and turn on by hand except garage area.

3 A/c would be interesting but probably would be to much for 30 amps

The cargo floor is tapered. I have no issue with loading the stock height golf cart.

I could not find a 31 anywhere as well. I rolled the dice and had this one built at the factory. They made some custom changes, like the ladder, for a small fee.

Overall very happy with the purchase.

Yes but they will install an EMS that helps with two ACs. They went out of their way to make my unit 50 amp.

Your 31 is the first I seen with ladder, I was hoping it wasn't tapered, to me its waste of floor space

I thought the same but I found there's enough floor space that it's not an issue for me. It's unnoticeable when you have the dinette down.

Good luck with your search.

I wonder if they would do a small awning in front of slide and big one over slide to the back

That would make a lot of sense. Wish I would've thought of that. Forest River XLR group is very accommodating. I would certainly ask. You might be pleasantly surprised how custom they'll make one for you

were not getting the dinette, just the bed. Were going to be using ours as a garage 95% of the time.

That fridge not opening up is a disaster. What bonehead would design something like that. Can you cut the corian or would the cabinet base still hit?

No the cabinet would still hit. It really doesn't affect my use. I'm never in it with the slideouts retracted and don't expect to be.

Glad it works for y'all. That would be a big issue for us. We do a ton of short trips with the grocery store stop on the way. Plus, we have a young one and getting to his snacks and milk would be a mess. I'd end up bumping out the slide to get into the fridge and driving off with it out.

Am I missing something? How hard is it to open the slide out a bit?
