Hitch Pin Mushrooming receiver

Just noticed my locking hitch pin is getting my hitch mushroomed on one side from movement and 70-80 degree bend. (to keep from sliding through) F250 2017 diesel with 2 1/2 inch hitch and with 2 inch sleeve. I need a 12 inch drop on my WDH and cannot find a 2 1/2 inch receiver with a 12 inch drop. No mods to increase truck height. This is a standard F250 Diesel King Ranch with 20 inch factory tires.

Way to much hitch movement with this setup but cannot find a 2 1/2 inch receiver with a 12 1/2 inch drop. 1450 hitch weight with 11,000 pound trailer loaded.

Help or suggestions would be well received. I checked with E trailer and googled with no results.

Curt makes quite a few drop hitches. You might want to contact them directly.

My WAG on this is WD hitch Not set properly! When WD is set and pressure transferred for Proper Sway Control there is NO "Movement/Slop/Hammering" at the retaining Pin area, that would cause "Mushrooming/Elongation/"! If you are just pulling without WD/SC your Stinger is the Hammer! Youroo!!

My equalizer hitch was ovaling the hutch pin hole on my 2500 with a 2.5 hitch. The adapter was the issue as it allowed to much slop. I found that etrailer had a 2.5 drop hitch that had the 2" holes for the head. No more ovaling out...
Edit: mine was made by equalizer and was bout 150$

Maybe you can try a hitch vise

You are putting 1500# on a hitch. I don't care what kind of wdh you have, but you are way maxed out. Any dip on the road will double the hitch weight.

Hitch weight is 1400#. Max hitch weight for my truck is 1800#. 400# under Max.

Thank you all for your reply. Still have not found a 2 1/2 inch hitch with a 10 1/2 drop that will fit my Equalizer WDH hitch. My 2 1/2 inch receiver has a two inch sleeve with a 2 inch hitch which has a tremendous amount of play unhitched.

I am going to try a "Hitch Vise" if no 2 1/2 hitch with 10 1/2 inch drop can be found that will work with the Equalizer WDH.

My Ram has a 2 1/2 inch receiver. The only think I tow using the adaptor is a small landscape trailer. The tolerances between the reducer and hitch are not tight at all and have way to much movement for me to trust it towing anything with any amount of weight. I would think someone would make what you need to ditch the sleeve/adaptor? 10 1/2 inch drop? is your truck lifted?

The OP truck is NOT lifted, trucks are just HIGHER! Our trailer has a Undermount hitch that even compounds the Drop Needed! Add to that our Reese DC Hitch head uses a "15/16" mounting bolt spread all New Heads are "1-1/4"spread! So I needed a 13" Drop and I made one! I also needed to extend it Rearward for "Tailgate Clearance and mounting area for a "Rock Tamer" flap system! The New trucks have a Taller Tailgate also! The stinger with adapter for the 2-1/2 receiver has NO SLOP/MOVEMENT when in use towing the unit! I have never had the 5/8 Pin bend or any of the Holes "Elongate" either! PS the Reese DC is a Early 1960s Model! Youroo!!

I didn't notice where you stated that you were using the adapter sleeve to convert your 2" shank to the 2.5" receiver. Are you using the adapter sleeve?

The very first post clearly stated he is using a 2 inch sleeve for a 2 1/2 inch receiver.

Sorry. Just hard for me to imagine any movement once WDH is engaged without something being setup wrong or wrong size pin is used. I
