Trap door???

Anyone have a clue what this is really for? When the slide is out you can see the outside dirt, and when closed all you see is the floor. It's only wide enough to toss a small child thru so it can't be an escape hatch. Dealer had no clue either.

Thinking of putting a floor in it to store tie down straps or light items if it serves no other purpose.

In theory when the slide is in you can flip it up and have a little extra room for storage.

I know someone who would send their child up thru to look at campers on the weekends didn't need a salesman bugging us or I mean them
