6v battery install

Mounted some 6v batteries on my WA2313 today. Just enough room for two GC2 boxes.

Nice install. I too added dual 6v batteries. I actually got them at sam's club for $89 each. So far they have out done my previous interstate 6v batteries.

Thanks. I paid $84 at Costco a couple weeks ago. 208ah I think. Interstates. When did you buy at SAMs and what ah?

That's a great deal. Are they labeled Interstate, Energizer or Duracell? The Costco Interstate batteries don't list specs but I'm assuming they are 208ah based upon their weight. Any other way to tell?

They are labeled energizer. The new batteries at Costco are crap. The recently switched brands and no one in the automotive department knew what AH each battery was. They also told me the new batteries are not the same as the old ones

I wouldn't listen to the employees. My Interstates from Costco are also made in Mexico and have the same one piece vent cap as your Energizers. Mine weight 63lbs. Pretty sure manufacturer and quality is the same, just different capacity.

The Sams in Kansas City don't carry item no. 263769 which is the 232ah battery. Only the 208ah which is item no. 1194

I spoke with Interstate batteries in Kansas City. They told me that they relabel their GC2-RD batteries for Costco. The GC2-RD are 208ah and the same as the 208ah Energizer sold at Sams.

Spec is 62.2 lbs and I weighted mine on the bathroom scale at 62.7 lbs.

Interstate didn't say anything anything about the Sam's Club batteries. I'm just assuming they are the same as the Sam Club 208ah batteries as they look identical, are the exact same weight and are both made by Johnson Controls in Mexico.

Your 232ah Energizer batteries are the Interstate GC2-HD model which I would buy if I could find them in the Midwest for the price you paid.

Which Sams Club did you buy the from? I may get a set if I can coordinate with a camping trip.

Yes I bought them from B&D RV Battery Lock. B & D RV Battery Lock For RV travel trailers and popup campers.

They don't fit my GC2 boxes perfectly (look at the hitch side). I guess some GC2 boxes have double 45 degree angles on both sides. As of now I have to use channel locks to get the padlocks on. I may bend one side flat and then put in a 90 degree angle. Or I could get longer locks or find different boxes. Or just make sure I always have a set of channel locks on board.

Thanks. I found a couple clubs within 30 miles of me that carry the 232ah energizers. Looks like there was a nationwide price increase though. They are $112.68 each plus core

That's 34% more than the 208ah model for only an 11.5% gain in capacity. Plus I would have to buy a Sams membership. Not worth it for me.

I just got back from my closest Sams Club and saw the 208ah which is called the Engergizer Golf Cart vs. the Premium Golf Cart for the 232ah model. The 208ah model is identical to the batteries I bought at Costco for $83.99 each. Even the month/year stickers are the same. They come from the same Interstate distributor in Kansas City and are made by Johnson Controls at one of their Mexico plants.

From pictures on that site it looks like each band is two halves and interlocks at the bottom somehow? Would you mind posting a detail picture of the bottom of the band?

It will be some time as the trailer is in storage. The video on their site shows how the two pieces interlock at the bottom. No hardware is used for interlocking. Your batteries will not get stolen unless they bring big bolt cutters for whatever lock you use.

Im thinking of switching to dual 6V's since we mainly do dry camping.......perhaps its time to plan on rigging up some sort of locks for mine as well, because from the looks of it someone needed my battery more than i do, and since they didnt end up walking away with it, looks like they spat on the ground???

I have a pair of true deep-cycle 12 volt batteries rather than two 6 volt batteries. I like the redundancy but the primary reason for using 12s is that they serve a different purpose, separately, when not camping. They have slightly less capacity as a pair but are usable individually.

I don't need fancy locks because I store my batteries in my garage when not camping. The trailer lives at a storage lot. When the trailer's at the house to load or unload, I swap the pair of deep cycle batteries for the single cheaper battery that came with the trailer. That's essential, for emergency braking.
