Redirecting Heat

We just purchased a 5th wheel Stealth. Gets lots of heat to the front bedroom and bathroom and not so much to the living area or garage. I don't see any way to close the vents in the front, only redirect the angle. Anyone have a solution or is there something we're missing to get more heat directed to the rear of the coach?

Thanks!

Hi there Pebbles!
Redirect (turning them) is really the only real solution here. Our bathroom cooks for sure. Our front bedroom does "okay" but it does get warmer quicker then the rest of the coach. I would heavily suggest using an electric heater in the main area if you are on full hookups. This fall we got one that looks like a fireplace and has a built in thermostat to control the heat and does a lovely job.

I just bought a portable honda eu2000i generator to run an external portable heater for the living area. My son sleeps in the crib back there and the standard heater in these trailers do not heat the living space very well.

Pebbles, you can usually replace the vents with ones that close. You don't want to close too many as the furnace needs air moving to work, but partially closing some should get more air moved back.

That said, in my 42' fifth wheel- it doesn't get much hot back to the bunkhouse no matter what I do. We dedicate a little space heater for back there.

In my WA2916 if i close the front bedroom doors, and set the thermostat to say 68, that front room has to be in the high 70's. If I leave the door open, the temperature is mostly even and I am OK with it. I was thinking the same thing, that I need to find some of those brown circle vents where some of the louver's can be closed. The pressure should raise slightly in the rear and help.

The same goes for my white A/C ones, except the opposite in that the front room gets very little air, but the rear, ducts are much (by far) stronger flow. I should test this theory for the A/C by using tape over some of the vents I suppose

Just purchased two adjustable registers, one for the top bedroom and one for the bathroom. Will install them this weekend and post whether or not they make a big difference.

If you have ducted ac, you can use that fan or just get some small fans to move the air. We got one that uses rechargeable bats,12 volt or 110. Great.

Be careful closing vents.
The furnace has a sail switch that if flow isn't met it'll shut down.

My thoughts are that if I can just close perhaps a couple louvers in my bedroom, then I can probably equalize the temp as it wont get quite as much up front, and a little more in the rear (where the thermostat is) and it will be ideal. Of course never close them off too much overall.

The new registers do help to push a little more of the air downstairs. I wish they'd had them in black, but here's the part I ordered from camping world: Replacement Floor Register with Damper, 4" - Beige - RV Designer H810 - Interior Hardware - Camping World
