Solar panel

We have a Stealth with a 200 watt solar panel. Just wondering if it should be protected from the winter elements. We likely will not have any covered storage until next year. We live in beautiful northeastern oregon.....so snow is likely. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

My neighbors on both sides of me have panels on top of their shops that are exposed to the elements. Was thinking if those are ok ours should be as well. I have a new Sandstorm with solar so have been wondering this myself. I am north of you in Ellensburg.

Our Stealth also has the 200 watt panel on top. We don't get any snow but winter can be a bit wet. It has only been through one winter and still looks brand new. We baby our Stealth like no other though and it is covered when now in use.... so it's not covered often cause we use it quite a bit 😛

I agree. Down here in So Cal we see solar on a high % of the homes and RVs as well and they do not need covers. But that said, you are in a harsh climate and if it will sit for the whole winter, I would sure have it covered with a high quality RV cover and IF you get hard wet freeze, I think I would be tempted to lay a plywood over the glass. The plywood precaution is mostly because I live in a place that never freezes and can't even imagine how much damage a little water can do when it gets in a crack or crevasse and then expands from freezing. good luck We love our New SandStorm with the same 200 watts on the roof.
