Stealth SA2515 generator question

We just picked up our 2016 SA2515. Testing the generator so I can do the break in routine. Put about 11 gallons of ethanol free fuel in the 40 gallon tank. When I try to prime the system, the electric fuel pump never seems to draw fuel from the tank. Does anyone know how much fuel you have to have in the tank? I understand with a motor home, the generator fuel pickup is placed as not to run the tank dry and leave the vehicle engine without gas. However, with a toy hauler I would hope the genset fuel pickup would be placed as low as possible in the tank? Took it back to the dealer to see if I have a bad fuel pump or clogged fuel filter, but it would be nice to know how much fuel I should put in the tank for genset operation.

During Walk through on mine they put in 3 gallons. Held down the prime switch for about 6-8 seconds and it fired right up. Did they fire up the gen for you at walk through? Oh and grats on the 2515. Had we not got the 2916 we were looking at that unit as well. Very nice!

Oh another thought came to my mind as soon as I hit send. Make sure your emergency fuel cutoff switch is not turned off. I may have learned a lesson on that on my last Fleetwood toy hauler

No fuel in it at delivery. They pointed to the hour meter at .2 hours, proved it worked. Not so sure myself. I put .2 hours on it trying to start it 50 times. What emergency fuel cutoff switch? I've not seen anything looks like an emergency fuel cutoff?

Im not able to go look right now but I believe my switch is either inside my fuel station or right out side it. Clearly marked as Emergency Shutoff. If it is switched then it will shut down the fuel system for both I believe.

Oh, that switch on mine works on the fuel station only. The generator fuel pump is on a separate fuel line than the line that feeds the fuel nozzle.

Ah that makes sense. Just trying to throw out all possibilities
I'd definitely say something is clogged up then. Doesn't take much to fire the Onan's up.

Figured it's a clogged filter from new tank/hose syndrome or infant mortality on the pump. Either way, it's back at the dealer again. With this issue plus a bad window, leaky water tank from a bad dump valve, FR gets a big warranty invoice from the dealer. Some little fit and finish issues, plus a lot of loose water fittings that leaked when pressurized.

Preston, I had a similar issue with my 5500 Onan. I brought it back to dealer and they claimed it was bad gas. I filled it with ethanol free gas and also filled my truck at the same time. My truck didn't have a problem with the gas. They told me it was going to be $1085 (not under warranty) to drop/drain the tank of bad gas, replace fuel filter, and replace carb. After arguing with them I called FR. They (FR) recommended I take it to a Cummins Onan dealer.

Decided to bring it home and replace fuel filter myself. It started right up. It took a little longer to prime (30 sec or so) but you could hear the difference in the fuel pump. Must've been some debris in the tank or fuel lines that clogged the fuel filter. Good luck.

Update. Smashed hose clamp where the hose routes from the tank up to the genset fuel pump. New clamp installed, up and running. I visually ran the hoses all the way from tank to pump and missed it. Took the dealer two days to find the pinch.

Awesome! Thanks for the update! Glad to hear it was something so simple.

FYI that the guy giving us the walk through on our wa2916 said under the green onan cover is a switch (he showed it to me) that people trip. Not your issue in THIS topic but wanted to mention it. He says look to that if your generator runs but no AC power. He said it's so common for people to trip that and have no idea how to flip it back. It's out of sight too normally... Just an FYI.

Good heads up! I'm going to go find that switch just in case.
