Water level

Have a Stealth WA2715. It has the optional 60 gallon potable water tank in addition to the standard 106 gallons. I am wondering if this is a different tank all together or if the standard tank is larger. I put in a lot of water after reaching full on the level indicator. There are times that I don't want to take out all 160 gallons. But I don't yet know how to interpret the indicator. Last time I only filled partial we ran out of water.

There is a separate tank. Look under the trailer and you will see these two linked together. I always fill no matter what. You can always dump the water when you leave so you don't have to haul it to the dumping station.

I have the 2313 and I think that the water goes into the main tank and then flows into the extra 60 gal tank. I'll take a closer look at mine next time it is warm out and on the driveway. Not sure if the 60 gal tank has the 1/3 sensor on it or if all sensors are on the main tank.

Did you find out about the sensor?

Not yet but it shouldn't be too long before I have it out of storage and ready for the season.

There are two major things you must have when boon dock camping, lots of water, and lots of power ( solar )

I would have to really get down there and look, but from the peeks I've had under the 2715 it looks like the supplemental 60 gallon tank is higher than the 100 and feeds via a gravity tube. I would imagine you're filling first through the 60 and the sensors are only in the 100 which fills first.

If I'm wrong, I'm likely incorrect on which tank is first in the line.

I'll get under there sometime soon and verify which tank is which.

Just returned from a trip and more confused than ever how the fresh water tanks are plumbed on my 2715. I put 40 gallons in prior to leaving and checked the pump for normal ops. After arriving at the campsite the pump sounded as if it was cavitating. This site had water hook ups so I could afford to experiment. The tank read 1/3 full and water came out when I pulled the dump valve. I added more water and the pump worked fine. I will be under the trailer soon to try and figure out how this system works.

I glanced earlier. It looks like the 100 gal gets filled by the inlet on the side of the trailer where you fill from. A hose connects the bottoms of the 100 and the 60. Although it looks like the 60 has level sensors on the side like the 100 does, the 100 is the only one with them hooked up so the reading is only from the 100. In theory, you could hook them up if you had something to read them and get a reading from both tanks simultaneously. Might be useful...

Yes, air for sure, just don't understand how that happened since it ops checked ok prior to departure. I was wondering if the water might have transferred to the other tank somehow during transit.

Could there be a tank venting issue? Are both tanks vented individually?

I dont have your set up but it would seem to me that if the tanks are connected through a relatively small pipe than perhaps you filled quicker than the tanks can equalize. Meaning it worked until the tanks equalized and then became to low.

Or, if the connection between the tanks is on the sides and not bottom, than perhaps you had enough water at first, but after driving some spashed into the scound tank?

Also, if the tanks are level to each other, than they should drain at the same rate making added sensors pointless.

They look relatively level to each other. The connector hose is not directly off the bottom but the bottom side of each. Unsure if they are independently vented.

I have had that happen to me as well where I filled to 2/3 then when I got to the grounds and settled in it showed 1/3. I'm guessing the main tank was 2/3 when I stopped then it settled with the extra tank.

I managed to get under mine today and found it exactly as TheUO describes. I also now think I had less than 40 gallons and what was indicated equalized between tanks. I'm guessing that 5 or so gallons is unusable just eyeballing the plumbing. I am thinking about installing a shut off valve between the tanks and using water to balance tongue weight when the motorcycles are loaded. If the unused sensors on the 60 gallon tank can be used I would hook those up also. It will make an interesting winter project.

I like that idea, That would help even you load across the unit when you load your bikes........
