Used 2001 All American Sport

Found this ad. on Craig's List in MI:

2001 All American sport travel trailer, 1 owner, will sleep 7 comfortably comes complete ready to camp explore whatever? Water hose and filter, sewer hose. spare tire. all jacks, some sheets for beds.hitch and load leveler bars and sway control,has ac,heat ,stove and refrigerator freezer, full bathroom and extra outside shower. TV and dvd player radio w/cd and cassette.

Never owned a trailer so would be grateful for some advice. What do you think a fair price would be? I'm intending on asking seller if I can have dealer inspect it (since I know NOTHING about trailers). Thanks in advance.

I don't see "All American" listed in the manufacturers, are you sure that is the name of the manufacturer? All American Sport sounds like it may the model name..

I found their website and it looks like a fifth wheel, but they have different models under the All American Sport heading.

what are you planning on pulling it with? the model above weighs 10438 lbs and is 37 feet long. Not what I would call a intro unit, you may be better off with a smaller trailer.

What I'm looking at isn't a 5th wheel. It's a travel trailer with a standard hitch. It's going to my 70 acres in northern MI to sit. I can get my hands on a GMC diesel pickup for the tow.

Even if you are going to park it, you will need water, power, and sewer, just like you would a mobile home. Not as much, but you will need water and sewer, and minimum, a generator, for several hours a day. If you have never owned a camper, they can be a lot of work.They sound good up front, but do your homework. Also looks like All American Sport is a Toy Hauler, why one of those to park it?

Option 2 would be to pitch a tent. In that case, no electricity or water either. Water we can haul up. Power we can do without, although getting hooked up is next item on list. The toy-hauler feature gives us a nice storage area for the tools and stuff we want to leave up there. I'm trying to do my homework. You're helping me with that. Thanks.

If it fits your needs and you can tow to your spot, then take a look at it. Take your family and sit in side the TT for about 10 minutes and see if it has the space you need and amenities you like. Check the roof for tears or cracks, water damage is a killer. walk around and feel for soft spots in the floor. Have the seller hook it up to water and power and be sure all works and you have no plumbing leaks. Have him extend the slides and awning and set it up as if you were camping in it. just be sure to look everything over and ask alot of questions. if he has propane in the tanks ask him to run the propane appliances. H20 heater/frig/stove/furnace should all work on propane and 12V battery. The AC will need 110V to work! look underneath for damaged or bent axles/worn out tires/etc. Good Luck with your TT search!

For a family of (male/female) two, in a work and play toy hauler, for a week-end, we need 30 gallons of water every 3 days, and that is only one navy shower each. We do wash dishes but only eat once per day at the camper. Now once you haul the water up, you have to let it go sooner or later, and that would be where? You may think you don't need power, but the water pump requires a battery, and it is going to die without being recharged. It will die based on stereo and gas detector hooked to it, even if you never use it for lights or water pump. That's where the generator comes in.

IDEA, rent the trailer and borrow the truck for a week-end, go out there and see what you think. Don't take any water. That way after you set it up, you will have to go and find some. Now make sure on the way home, you have somewhere to dump the tanks also. Live without power and stuff for a week-end, and see if it suits you. Might be cheaper than a mistake in the long run.

I like the suggestions. We've never owned a travel trailer, but we are experienced hiker/campers. I don't need much water. We did a weekend up there in tents and brought back some of the 15 gallons we took. On 70 acres, we'll make like bears in the woods, if you catch my drift.

Still trying to figure out a fair price for this unit. NADA guide says $5600. Asking $8500. Seller claims NADA is what dealers pay for trade-ins. I don't want to rip-off anybody. I'll gladly pay what's fair. Can somebody tell me what's going rate for an 2001 All American Sport M-27FB - 30'? It's pretty stock except for a load leveler. Thanks.

if the NADA is 5600 and he is asking 8500/ split the difference and offer him 7K. We paid 8500K for our 2006 30ft Salem LE from a retail lot, an individual should accept less.

Finished purchase yesterday for $6500. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get it where it's going. Owner's Manual doesn't have any spec's. Can anybody point me to a spec sheet? Thanks.
