We just purchased one a couple of months ago. Unfortunately we haven't camped in it yet. Our first trip isn't for another 2 Weeks.

Did you get yours?

We have the 2014 and like it very much. We did pull out the dining table and benches and put in 2 recliners. Works better for us. I think you will like it.

Hey, that is an awesome idea with the Recliners!

We are really looking forward to our "Maiden Voyage"

The Counter Space is what really sold my wife on the Tracer.

Definitely the most counter space that we found for the size.

Yep counter space is great. Only down side we had was the dinnette. We are going to keep this for a few years and travel around Michigan area. Hope to upgrade to a larger trailer/5ver in about 4 years and start snowbirding.

If you change out for the recliners, make sure they are wall away. Very important!!

2016 Tracer 235 Air

We purchased our "235" August of last year have camped in it about 6 times.

We too removed the table and dinette and replace it with two recliners. Much more comfortable! The attached picture shows the area where the recliners go. I spruced it up a little by adding the plywood wall and molding. Added a awning over the slide out and have replace all the light bulbs with led's, much cooler!

We've only had one problem and that was a leak over the bed, no damage and water never got on the bed, caused by a seam in the roof where the rubber meets the fiberglass. The dealer fixed the problem and haven't had to bring the trailer back since.

The only thing that I would have liked is a bigger gray tank, currently it's a 30 gallon tank.

Nice Job Air235. It appears that replacing the dinette with recliners is very popular. I think the 1st "Mod" that I would like is the slide out awning. Not sure when but would like one. Any pointers on the awning (i.e. brand etc.).

Thanks

Oh and I was trying to figure out how to manually operate the slide in
case of a failure. Do you know where the "Brains" for the slider is located?

I saw the slide out motor controller under the frig, laying on the floor next to the inverter, I'll assume it's there on all of these trailers, mines a 2016... I've read the instructions on how to "move" the slider if the electric system fails but really didn't understand it much, I guess I will when the day it fails to move. All of the user manuals are on line on their web site, a nice feature.

All of our travel buddies insisted that we get a awning for the slider. I guess they've experienced "stuff" (branches, pine cones, etc) getting stuck in the slide out. Closing the slider with this stuff in it has caused all kinds of problems with the seals. Also saves having to get the ladder out to see whats up there before we close it.

One More Thing

I forgot to mention, when I took out the dinette, I took the dinette table and mounted it as a flip out table at the end of the counter. A flip out leg on the end supports the table when it's deployed. It gives us a nice place to still sit down at a "table" for dinner, next time I go to the trailer storage I'll snap a picture of it and post it.

I have heard that about the sliders too. Thats why I think my first "Mod" will be the awning over the slide out.

Thanks for the info, i will check under the fridge for the slide out motor controller. Ours is a 2016 also so I will assume its the same as yours.

The picture of where you put the table would be nice. I am trying to picture it in my head but not sure of your placement.

I was thinking that if I did the recliner thing that I would just use some bar stools
on the "island".

We had the awning covers put on as we were signing the papers after the PDI. Will never have a slider without a cover.

Slide Out Awning it is then

Another item I was looking into was 30 amp surge protector. Do either of you (or anyone else) use one? I was looking at the one made by Camco on Amazon but keep hearing about how everyone says the would only recommend one from Progressive (I think that was the brand).

Has anyone used the one made by Camco? What is the difference between the two?

We had another camper for a couple of years before this one but never even thought about using a surge protector.

I did a lot of reading about the marginal power at campgrounds and decided I didn’t want to take a chance damaging the air conditioner, refrigerator, etc. So I installed the "Progressive" hardwired version power protector, EMS-HW30C, and mounted the remote display panel above the thermostat. Two times already it has cut off the power to the trailer when the voltage has dropped below 104 volts, very happy with the performance. What's nice is when voltage is restored to an acceptable level it turns the power back on automatically.
What’s funny is the two low voltage occasions that I had were at state parks, not private campgrounds. That’s when I decided to buy the Hughes Autoformer RV2130, quite a nice little product. I actually got to talk to the company owner at an RV show. His demonstration of the unit made the decision a no brainer. After using this I have noticed, via the “Progressive display panel”, that the voltage is always at an acceptable level now and no more low voltage alarms.
A lot of protection over kill, maybe, but both items wouldn’t have cost what a refrigerator would be to replace.

That is some good info Air235, thanks. The camper is a rather large investment so I don't think that it is overkill at all. It is better to be safe than sorry It just takes one power problem!! I think for now I am going to get the Camco one until I have time and funds to go with a better/more permanent solution like you have.
I am guessing that 1 big difference between your setup and the Camco option is that the Camco won't automatically "come back on" like your setup.

We have the portable one that plugs into the campground pole and checks the voltage. Works well. When we get our next trailer I want the hardwired one.

Good to know Bill/Margo, thanks.

I am getting the "Camco 55301 30 AMP Power Defender Voltage Protector with PowerGrip Handles" for now.

The wife and I went by the trailer storage place today and took a couple of pictures, one of the recliners and the others are of the table I converted over to a foldout. I think we have finally got it the way we want it!
Happy Camping!
