I just went through the whole tire research ordeal and based on my findings I would have no worries about putting those tires on my trailer. I tend to prefer to do business with Discount and they could not get these tires so I ended up with the Firestone Transforce in that size

I have the Sailun tires on my 5th wheel I replaced my GY marathons this spring I have about 2000 miles or so on them as of now. I went with the 215/75/r17.5 due to also having to replace the wheel due to not being able to handle any of the higher load rating tires. I love this tire they are load range H tires, but I only run them at 110 psi so they are about a load range G tire as I am using them.

I put them on our 5er earlier this year and have not had issues. They seem to get pretty good reviews on this site as well as other RV specific sites.

Fantastic! So tell me, how many bad experiences with LT's have you read about?

Sorry, I don't want to hijack the thread. Feel free to PM me.

I know of at least one. Don't recall brand, though. I do know the owner is meticulous about preventative maintenance on his rig and took care of them.

Overall, I think LT tires can be a good choice. I don't subscribe to the theory that they aren't appropriate since there are quite a few high end trailers that come with them. (I also am not on the bandwagon that all ST tires are junk.)

My big issue with LT tires is the lesser cargo carrying capacity vs equivalently sized ST tires. With axle spacing, there's not always room to increase the diameter of the tire. At least, that was my personal experience.

My second issue is that I just don't know enough to understand the sizing differences- for instance, my tire size is 235/80/R16 but most LT tires I found were 235/85/R16. That 80 vs. 85- I just wasn't sure how that impacted things.

I have had troubles with the BFG Commercial TA both on my truck and camper. Truck rears had broken belts and I had to replace them without compensation. Found later to be in the recall that BFG had several years ago.

Two blowouts on my camper and a bulge on another that BFG would not warrant as in their words "LT tires on a camper is a misapplication, unsafe and thus not warranted". I went up a size on rim and tire when I installed them and they were a higher load capacity that the ST's they replaced. Cousin had 2 blowouts with the treads coming off. He also went up a size over his original ST's.

Interesting, I think I've read of airdale warning of this. You're the first that I've read of it happening to someone.
