AC issue

Out for our second week in Branson , today it hit 99, when I went inside the AC stopped for a second then started again. Anyone else have this issue. We have a 325RES, 2013.

The A/C goes into de-iceing mode. You may hear the fan speed up and/or slow down. Nothing to worry about. We have a 325 and experience the same conditions.

I think that it also could be the power in the RV park is overloaded. We experienced that one 4th of july.

I was thinking that, I was hoping not since its s new 50 amp service in federal park. But you never know. Park only has about 15 campers.

I have never heard of an A/C going into a deicing mode. If you are running your a/c and your evaporator coil freezes up you have a problem either you are low on Freon or you have a plugged air filter or a dirty condenser coil or your coil is blocking the air and not exchanging the Freon from liquid to a gas at the expansion valve. Was in the HVAC business for 25 years and have never heard or seen that except on a heat pump. That is news to me........ But then I have not worked since 1994...

Ya know I've had the exact same issue with our front unit. Its so brief it can't be a power issue or a machine operation. I'm thinking the thermostat sends an error signal of "reached set point" and then reverses itself. Nothing else makes sense. I've eyeballed the voltage during these sessions and it hasn't moved.

Vince, glad I'm not hearing things. What have you done with yours or are you going to do anything? Hate to leave at dealer since it doesn't happen all the time. Dealer would have to have tech set inside for hours. Think ill be calling PT on Thursday

I'll post anything else I see or hear on this thread. Worst case I hope I'll nee to change the Dometic thermostat. Hate to do even, that so I'll keep an eye on it. So far there's no harm done. I note the wires to the thermo are prob a 22 gauge, ie: tiny. Therefore there must be a matching control CB in the roof a/c which controls the motors up there. It could be either place. Maybe your call will yield something new.

ours has done this to,but only in the auto mode,i have found that by operating in the lo or high fan mode the problem is elimenated.

Things haven't changed since 1994 other than types of refrigerants and more efficient equipment. AC units still don't defrost, Heat Pumps still do during the Winter. I'm thinking the problem may be in the t-stat as well as it's location to other possible heat sources that would bring it on. Sunlight and doors being opened and closed. I'm still in the HVAC business since 1976.

I agree totally sometimes people do not realize that the whole in the wall could become a problem letting warm air behind the stat and changing the temp, or all that you posted...........

Well I called Dometic and they told me that the unit changes can speeds and that's what I am hearing. They told me it was normal.

Mine does it too. I was listening to it last week as it was around 98 degrees at 10:30 in the morning...lovely day to pull 800 miles, but I digress.

It sounded to me like it was allowing the compressor to cycle occasionally while changing fan speed. The fan speed may be on a stepped resistor? It has to cycle from one specific speed to another, not linear. It never stopped blowing cold air.

Ours does that when it reaches the set temperature. It will shut down the fan for a second or two then start up again at the lower fan speed. It was unnerving at first till I realized it was doing it every time the fan switched speed. You can check that by moving your set point up and see if it does it.

I noticed our Tracer 15kbtu doing the same thing. I hoped it wasn't an issue but when in extreme heat (beach 90+ degrees) I'll put the fan on high instead of auto and let the compressor cycle.

We have experienced this problem with our new 2014 325RES on many occasions at 5 or more campgrounds this summer. We observed that the A/C fan stopped 7 times within a 10-min period with the final stoppage for about 3 sec before the fan speed changed. The problems always occur when the A/C unit needs to change from low to high or high to low fan speeds, but the A/C compressor keeps running even though the fan has stopped. Our dealer has changed the Dometic thermostat and "everything but the compressor and fan" in the A/C unit, but we have not had warm weather to verify whether the probems has been fixed.

Setting the t-stat fan control on HIGH or LOW will prevent the fan from stopping, but then the fan runs even when the A/C compressor is off.

Good luck to all of us that have the Quiet Cool A/C.
