Adiós to FR/PrimeTime

After 4 yrs of owning a Forest River Sierra and 5 yrs. owning a Prime Time Crusader, I bid my goodbyes to the group. While the group has been helpful and friendly, I can't say I'm going to miss owning a Forest River/Prime Time product. The quality of River Forest/Prime Time rv's leave a lot to be desired also the support personnel for Prime Time seem to pick and choose who they help. IE, the faded front cap on my Crusader. Good luck to all.

Good luck...know what you mean though. I moved from a Jayco to a FR/HG.

I think they all have their fair share of issues but I stayed away from the PT Crusader due to the cap issues and some other stories. I owned a Shasta I bought used, was ok but quirky issues, went to a New FR Rockwood Roo 23ikss and I have to say buying new isn't worth it when you have to almost beg for the MFG to fix the darn thing under warranty, I am fighting with FR now to get my steps replaced by they didn't want to and I still have the same issue where the left side sags and right side is sturdy ugh..... It's under warranty why have the dealer adjust them when they are not right to begin with

Best of luck! Just remember to keep a good coat of wax on the cap, even your new one to keep her from oxidizing if its a color gel coat cap. Like boats, gel coat does not stay perfect forever without some help.

I like that my Primetime Tracer was manufactured the year before they switched to the fiberglass cap & brown color scheme... When I saw the new ones on the lot, my first thought was that the front cap will eventually fade at a different rate than the sides & therefore look ugly in a few years (5 years or so...) I did not realize that some would fade the very first year... I also feel the brown color scheme absorbs more heat which may lead to other issues...

If you're concerned about a dark front cap fading, look for a brand that offers a traditional white. Personally, I prefer the classic white vs. the new brown colours but all the other upgrades that come with many of the packages are very nice. Rockwood offers the Platinum Package that has all the upgrades of their Diamond Package but without the "champagne" colour exterior.

We brought ours in for the front cap fading and the material under the kitchen slide being damaged plus a few small issues. The tech extended the slide to check out the damage and when the tech retracted the slide it torn the floor covering in the kitchen. I walked on to the show room and purchased another 5er that very day from someone other than Forest River. That was a 8 month old 5er that was paid off and we planned on keeping for a lot of years. Now we have 12 months of payments on the replacement 5er delaying by 2017 Ford F350 for another year.

Well if you did not like the customer service from FR and Prime Time you will hate the customer service from Jayco now Keystone/Thor. I had a Keystone product prior to Prime Time and they would not even respond to any email. Also parts were a huge problem with a Keystone product they would only sell parts to a Keystone dealer. So I always had to have the part shipped to a dealer. Also if the unit was sold by a non Keystone dealer that non Keystone dealer could not order parts. Most other dealers would have a neighboring Keystone dealer order the parts and they would pick them up. All round a very bad experience for me, but hope you have better luck.

When it comes right down to it one company is no better than the other you will have issues and then a lot depends on your dealer as to what kind of service you get. Later RJD
