Another Coleman Roadtrip grill conversion ??

I've been reading thru the different ways to convert a Coleman Roadtrip grill to use the low pressure outside connector on my Jayco Eagle Superlite. Most of the solutions discuss ways to remove the OEM Coleman regulator & connect a line directly from there to the onboard RV connector. Here's my question....Has anyone attempted to reroute the outside connector to the high pressure side of the RV? Wouldn't it be better to retain the Coleman regulator & just supply high pressure to it? I realize that this could be done very easily with a separate propane tank but, if your RV storage is as full as mine, carrying an extra propane tank would require leaving something else home. It shouldn't be too difficult to install a "T" into the high pressure side before the RV regulator and then attach the outside connector to one leg of the "T". Sure there would be fittings/adapters to purchase but, on the plus side, the grill would still be useable with the 1 lb cylinders if ever needed. Any thoughts?

well written Larry, I have asked myself this same question over and over, I looked for the T in websites that sell propane fittings and have read about every item on these forums. so in the mean time I'll wait to see if someone replies and maybe a picture or two.

Sye, do you have to turn that bottle off (close the valve) to connect and disconnect the grill line?

I do not. It works great and it allows me to use the grill regulator and not the campers

Amazon.com has the 3 port brass T for $28.28 - Camco part # 59133 and the hose for $23.59 - Camco part # 59043. The description and pictures look identical to what Sye has, so I ordered them. After I get them I'll post if they fit properly.

I honestly think I bought mine in Late Oct or Early Nov so I would have it for the summer. I had over 100 dollars and it was free shipping as well. Did the one on Amazon come with a hose too.

Instead of purchasing the T and hose as a kit, I found them separately on Amazon. The hose is 12' long with male & female 1-20 threaded swivel fittings(same thread as the disposable bottles). The T appears to be identical to the one you have except that the in/out propane tank fitting locations are reversed. Also, this one uses the external type 1(?) threaded connectors instead of the internal threaded tank connector. I'll know more in about a week when it arrives.

Well my parts arrived & I installed them today. I had to rotate the bottle 90 deg to maintain the proper angle for the oem connector and I also had to move the oem dual stage regulator to gain more clearance to connect the 12' propane hose to the top of the T. I had planned to move the regulator anyway because I wasn't happy with the way that the feed hose at the bottom of the regulator was forced to the side by the curvature of the tank. Anyway, I checked for leaks after installation and had a couple of bubbles at the 1-20 fitting at the top of the T. A little additional tightening of the knurled fitting nut fixed the problem. This afternoon I sacrificed some steaks to the propane god & everything worked great. The only PITA is cleaning the grill afterwards. I sprayed the grill grates with pam but next time I will spray the area below the grates also.
