Anyone pulling 5th wheel Crusader with F150 EcoBoost

Looking to see how my 2014 F150 with EcoBoost does on a Crusader looking at 290 and 294 which are 8700 and 9000 lbs mine is rated for 11,300

Curious which hitch to get looking at Reese Revolution or Reese 16K slider

Check your payload...pin weight is usually 15-20% of trailer..so with your figures that's 1500-1800 lbs of payload PLUS whatever you/wife/passengers weight...probably over GVWR and payload rating of your F150.

GCWR for this truck it is 17100 lbs truck weighs 5570 and trailer is 9000 for 294 so just under it but can not go bigger. PT is coming out with a new line of Ultra Lite's so maybe those are better for me because 17100 minus 9000 leaves me ok but not much wiggle room add another 350 for GF and I and 500 lbs if gear. Max payload is 2390

They're making some very HD capacity F150s these days..and with a V6 no less? All sounds too good to be true to me. But if ford say so i'm not gonna argue.

I am towing a 295RST with my 2012 F-150HD. I ordered my truck as trucks kitted out like mine are quite rare on dealer lots. Mine is equipped with the HD payload package and Max Tow. End result is a payload just shy of 2200lb.

I've put about 10,000 miles of towing with this combo, including a trip from Ontario to the Florida Keys. Zero issues. No problems. It's a lot of weight, but the truck does fine with it.

I've CAT scaled my combo and it is within ALL ratings. Just barely, but within ratings. I'm still on my original brakes and they are wearing very normally. I use a Reese 16K slider.

Yeah I was looking at a Reese 16K Slider got a price of $1600 installed out the door, and I know the F150 can do it, just wondering if I should go for an F350 Crew with 6 and 3/4 box Powerstroke, just spent $40K plus on the F150 and it has the power and capacity for a Crusader 290 or 294 plus some extra gear and 4 of us come in around another 1000#s so total would be 10K trailer and gear truck has a max CGVWR of 17000 and payload close to 2400 so I am under max capacity. Will be buying extended warranty before MFG is up in case a Turbo blows though

I have the Reese 16K slider. Good hitch. I paid around 1300 installed including the bargman adapter in the bed.

I also have a 5yr/150k extended Ford warranty, I hope I don't need it, but it's' there if I do.

If I had the cabbage for an oil burner I'd have had one...

If you aren't dead set on Reese and want to save a few $$$ look at a Curt hitch. They come with great reviews on RV forums. I ended up with the 20k w/slider for 1000$ installed, out the door.

Just a thought. You might want to go over to Hershey PA this weekend. One of the biggest RV shows in America. Full line of Crusaders on display and many more brands. Great time to buy if your really serious... big discounts and dealers are looking for good used trade ins.Check out the Hershey Rv show website.

Can't say enough about the Reese Revolution, it is great and eliminates the need for a slider.

Some dealers will hold show prices for sometime after the shows. You might want to check some of the dealers in the PA/NJ area for show pricing.

And the Reese Revolution allows you to use a full bed hard tonneau cover.

I have a 2012 F-150 that I ordered with the HD and Max Tow package. We have towed over 9,000 miles throughout the east and we still LOVE it. Our payload is 2340 and our trailer weighs 8300. No problems and we have had it for almost 3 years.

My brother in law pulled a 2014 295rst crusader with a 2009 super crew f150 fx4. He did NOT need a slider hitch or reese revolution pin box and proved it to us by putting the truck at an almost 90 degree angle to the crusader. The crusaders are designed for this. Click image for larger version
