As hour 2 of insomnia sets in, I begin to curse stupid blue light!!
If you have a newer Crusader you may know what I am talking about, in the bedroom above the headboard is 2 LEDs that have independent switches that are backlit by a blue led. Normally when you first go to bed it's not very bright but as time goes and your eyes adjust and they become quite bright! Has anyone done anything to fix the led to stop it from being so bright???

I had to put electrical tape over lighted switches.... DW couldn't stand the blue light. I didn't even notice it, but she couldn't sleep.

Pull the switch and clip the led wire lead.

Good answer! I assumed the LED was powered internally. I'll have to check that out.

If you can't do that, just get some black paint and paint it.

Or replace switches with ones that are unlit.

I know what you are saying. Our DVR`s have the blue LED`s when it`s on HD. it used to drive me nuts too! felt like it lit the entire room! after awhile I forgot all about it.

My DW has the same issues with any lights that are on at night when she goes to sleep. The Jensen TV in the bed room has a small blue light that is on when she goes to sleep. Will she made a black felt cover for the TV that slides over it, blocking the light.
In the Kitchen I have to cover the Microwave LED clock on the display before we go to bed; this light will keep her awake. We put a vent cushion in the bathroom and kitchen vent fans. The bathroom skylight has a cover over the opening.
She likes it really really dark for sleeping.

Hey, it worked for Mick Jagger LOL! Seriously, all these little LEDs make me crazy in my new rig! Turning the TV antenna off has become part of our nightly closing-up routine. I know they serve an important function, but they are very annoying!

Blue light disrupts sleep even with eyes closed. So does red light but not as much.

Not trying to be argumentative just interested to know how, if the eyes can't see the light, how does the light disrupt sleep?

I had the same problem with a LCD TV in my room. It drove me crazy. My solution was a couple strips of black electrical tape. A couple years ago I gave the TV to my nephew. He couldn't find the power button because it didn't light up and called me from Houston. I laughed and said try feeling for the electrical tape. He called me later and said that dang blue light keeps me awake now I have to go buy some black electrical tape.

Electrical tape has worked great for me. It will keep the light out and in 2 seconds it can be taken off so you are back to original. Cutting wires and tracing power is not necessary in my humble opinion. I have a Progressive Industries EMS mounted on my bedroom wall and next time I go camping the black electrical tape is covering up those blinking red lights!!

My first reaction would be a thumb tack and a sock.
Then I'd dismantle the thing and put red LEDs inline with some resistors to have a dimmer and softer light. But not everyone can do that, so snipping the LEDs may be an option.
We have a heated mattress, and I swear I can read a newspaper by the excess light the control box puts out. I drop a sock over that, too.
