Personally, I would never be without a cutoff switch. When hooked to shore power your converter may and I say may want to charge the batteries a lot. I will bring my 5er home in a couple of days and it will be hooked to 30 amp shore power here. I'll leave the switch on for one day and then I will shut it off. You may have a defective switch or maybe one of the wires is loose. Disconnect your batteries and then take the switch apart. I have a voltmeter attached to the batteries all the time, so I can tell the state of charge. When my AC is running the water goes to the right rear of the 5er and drips off of the drain spout. My roof from the AC down is canted. Just another bean for the pot.

Your rain gutters may be clogged with debris. May need to clean them. They are really small channels and can get clogged easily.
