Battery disconnect

I'm thinking that the battery disconnect should remove the 12vdc system. However when I pull my disconnect switch while plugged into shore power nothing in the coach shuts off. Can someone advise me what should be happening when the disconnect is pulled? Thanks

Shore pwr goes thru the converter and powers all 12v appliances even with the disconnect in the off position. When you unplug the shore line then the battery cut off will prevent parasitic drains on the battery.

These threads may help you better understand your RV's electrical systems. Mark Polk explains what is powered by what source of power, as well as the battery disconnects purpose and the converters function, as SilhouettePenny stated.

Basic RV Electricity - RV Information (RV Maintenance)

RV Converters and Amp Draw - RV Information (RV Maintenance)

Hope this helps

I would think that every manufacturer "wires" their units differently (why wouldn't they, remember, they don't and can't supply wiring schematics because each unit is wired by hand). But, in my case, when NOT connected to shore power, the disconnect kills everything except the hydraulic pump which runs the landing gear & slides (which are hydraulic).

THIS!
Battery disconnect switch is only for when there's no shore power.

On my 27rk Crusader Lite, the landing gear and slide out are the only things that work with the battery disconnect engaged.

As others have said, it is a battery disconnect, not a 12 volt on/off switch. If there is shore power, the converter will continue to supply 12 volts to the coach, regardless of disconnect switch position.
