Most popular choices are Maxxis or Goodyear Marathons...Unfortunately still made in China but seem too hold up MUCH better than the other brands

I had a blowout a couple months ago which alarmed me. I've got about 4000 miles on these tires, but while at the tire dealer, I found a screw in the tire. So, not a blowout due to a defective tire. I placed my spare on the wheel to keep my set of like tires and purchased an Akkuret for a spare.

Yes,minimal though. It ripped that piece of (cheap) plastic trim over the wheel off. Obliterated the tire pretty darn good. Like a gun shot..chunks of rubber flying...heart racing..cool stuff!! Anyway these..what do they call them..Chinese bombers..WOW! Got maybe 3 years and I guess 10-12k on them. According to one review that's about right. After looking at all the mind numbing reviews and some of the replies here I'm thinking those Maxxis sound good!

Update. I left this morning from Louisiana on our way to San Antonio. We had another blowout. I put the spare on and made it to Beaumont. Pulled up at National Tire and changed all 4. 2 of the 3 left on the camper were about to blow. Tread area failed, not sidewall. You can see the tread deformed in the pictures. It damaged the slide floor, ripped the plastic fender well off, and ripped the gas line loose.

William, you have my sympathies sir. Sounds like you got a worse deal than I had. I know folks get tired (no pun intended) of these tire stories, but only a few thousand miles and BOOM!! It's like the frame flex thing..oops sorry! Anyway what brand/type did you go with? Just curious as I will be ordering 4 new ones soon.

I went with "Towmax" by neccessity. That was one of two brands they had and the one with only 4 in stock. I had two more ready to blow so I couldn't shop. The tire tech let the air out of the two bad ones before he would remove it from the trailer. Needless to say, I was in a pickle. And to make things worse, I was missing a bearing buddy from my last tire change. I had to find a trailer shop to replace that. So now we're at the campground safe and sound drinking a cold one.
