Break away cable

On my break away cable for my breaks where is the best place to attach it to. I've been placing it over the handle that releases the king pin,and it keeps coming off when traveling. I was wondering if any of y'all had this problem,and if so how did y'all fix it.

I switched to this

and attach it where the safety chains go.

Can't you just put a clip on the end of the cable and still hook it to where the safety chains go.
Does 5th wheels have safety chains because mine dont

After I close the jaws I take the safety lock pin that holds the jaws closed, put the pin through the loop of the cable and put the pin in to lock the jaws closed. The cable remains attached by the pin and because it is a safety lock pin, it is closed and can not come loose.

My breakaway cable has a carabiner on the end (I think that was factory) and I hook it through an unused slot in the hitch rail.

I use a carabiner as well. Hooking it to the bed rails is a good idea.

I would like a better than the handle connector as well. I have thought about welding/mounting something somewhere....

To the OP. I have read about the angle of mount on the break-away switch...if it's at an odd angle it can break instead of release...just something else to look at. Mine looks like it points down about 45 deg. this prolly means at the point of requirement...it would break.

I loop it around the handle then hook it in the pin to lock the handle in the closed position of the 5 th wheel. Never had it come off

Only thing is I don't have a hitch rail. I have a B&W hitch that sits where the goose neck ball sits at
