Really when did this happen? I thought those guys came from Keystone and wanted to keep the company Private and to themselves? Wow

I have a 2016 Crusader rst puchased late last year. It was built 6/30/2015. No sign of cap fading. Did they change anything at any point during production to keep this from happening, or will we all end up on the road to cap fade?

Our 2016 Crusader 295 RST was built 5/4/2015 and I doubt anything was changed. We had our coach treated with a product called Duratain that is suppose to protect the fiberglass for 5 years I think. The product was not applied to the top of the cap because the person said they don't go up on the roof. That may be why the top part faded. With this product you can only clean the RV with dawn dish soap. You do not have to wax the coach.

With that said I'm not sure it was worth $2,000+ to have it applied. You can buy a lot of soap and wax for that kind of money. I just liked the idea of not having to wax. I use to have a 38' boat and when I got done waxing I was sure it was 100'.

Cap fade is inevitable, especially if you live in the southwest. Our friends bought a new rig 2 years ago with a painted cap with a guarantee. They've had it painted twice already. Once for fade and once for cracking.

I'll just stick to my gelcoat that I can buff out. Takes me 1 hour to do the front cap.

I guess if my front cap smelled, had mildew, or pesky microbes, I might try it

Casey's Four Season RV has their shop specifically set up to repaint trailers with Cap Fade. Had them lined up for repaint when I bought my 2017 Crusader. New Crusaders have a tan cap not the dark brown. I store mine inside so will see how long it takes to fade. Decals will probably go first. I think they are trending away from the dark colored caps because they fail so soon. I've seen 2 year old Montana's with severe cap fade. Always the dark colors. We'll see how long it takes for them to start painting them white again.

New ones have both Light Tan and Dark Brown caps, I think Prime Time needs to get their act together and fix this issue but seems the whole industry puts out subpar products then we get stuck dealing with it and fighting for help.

My current cap is dark gray and I have to deoxidize and wax it about every 4 months to keep it looking nice. And actually I don't think they fade/dull any worse than the old white caps did. The oxidation on the white caps just wasn't as apparent, and I still had to deoxidize and polish those, just not as often.

I still haven't decided about painted caps. Several of our travelling buddies have those, and those caps have their own problems. One fella is on his third cap/paint job because of cracking and peeling. He had to pay for the last go round.

Right now I'll just stick to gel coat, at least I can buff those out.

Cap Fade

No issues with our 2015 Traced 3140RSD. Detail cap every 6 months with synthetic waxes/glazes.

Noticed this April of the fade my Crusader is getting.

Notified Prime Time and spoke with Denny. There is a 30 month warranty from date of manufacture and I fell in the range with less than 2 weeks to spare.
Denny was very helpful, directed me to a local RV Specialty shop with experience doing the painting.
A "web claim" was placed and approved.
I'm going to the Frog Rally and will drop off the unit following the rally.

Now if only I can get the damage to the undersides of the slides repaired at the rally I'll be happy.
