Carlisle tire question

I see that there are folks that really don't like Carlisle tires, but I have not seen anyone post their experience with the new design RADIAL TRAIL RH tire. Discount Tire says that currently the best ST tire out there. Based on this and the fact that I needed two tires while away from home, I now own 4 of them.

Don't want to start a brand war, just asking for folks experience with this new design tire, good or bad.

I got em installed on my brand new TT. Put thousands of miles on them. Satisfied. My $.02

I personally have never owned any,but the people over on horse trailer world .com call them grenades.

My 2006 pop up came with them and I did not have any problems with them. I cannot comment on the new design. I guess time will tell.

Have only put 1k miles on my set so no issues yet. Only complaint is the large amount of weights needed to balance them out. Way too much.

Very telling. But I already own them so I will ride them out until unhappy with them.

I ran Carlisle's on my TH for a year. Had no issues and seem to tow better. They were 10 ply tires. I pulled about 7,000 miles with them.

From my readings about tires recently on various forums, the new design is getting pretty good reports.

Several years ago, they along with Goodyear had some quality issues from their ST tires coming from China. They cleaned up their act and paid claim to those that had China bomb explosions. The model you referenced is a newer model. They are what I replaced two Akuret tire blowouts with while traveling in Florida. I later replaced the remaining two with Maxxis, which was and still is my first choice in ST tires. Most Discount Tires store locations don’t stock, but can order Maxxis. I'm with you--I see people that don't like Carlisles, but they are all older posts. Whatever the case, my LTS could only get me the RH tires, compared to some of the cheaper tires he had in stock. We haven't been out in our trailer yet, Ultra V 2715s, but I'm heeding the warnings to not waste time in getting better tires. Roll the dice and take your chances. We'll see how they do.

Replaced my CBs last year with a set of LR E Carlisles.

No problems so far!

I hope that the tires are going to be ok. If people were having problems, I believe they would still be expressing their opinion.

I think you're probably right, Scott. Since the RH tire is relatively new, with newer technology, maybe they will be a better tire than even 3 to 4 years ago. It seems the ones that are giving trouble are the older models of tires. Anyway, I'll soon find out. Mine are getting put on tomorrow. The OEM tire are a Constancy ly188, which I have never heard of. They are even advertised as a cheap tire. I talked to a guy who had just purchased a new Windjammer, and the first thing he did was put on new tires, and advised me to do the same. Thanks, Scott.

I'm not a TT guy but do pull a utility trailer with my Sunseeker and am looking to replace tires on a single-axle motorcycle trailer. Apparently the only US-made trailer tires are from Carlisle now, albeit their bias-ply USA Trail.

Tells me......lazy installer. Why not break'em back down and rotate on wheel and re-balance to see if indeed a problem tire or wheel.

I suspect that would be those cheap steel wheels. Inconsistent welds and center is usually out of alignment with the rim.

I have the new RH LRE tires, installed last year in April. They are China made, but definitely a quality tire with the thousands of miles and over 60 nights camped. I'm completely satisfied.
