There are NOT blank panels in the ceiling, what we replaced are the original existing vents that were not adjustable.
With the new adjustable vents you can now open or close them as you wish.
When i run both AC's I walk to the front bedroom and close down the front bedroom vent so I get more air flow in the main room.

I think you two are talking about two different things here.

I have the second AC installed in the bedroom but it was done by the dealer so it’s not ducted into the main system and I wish it was since it’s a 15 BTU unit. I have controls on the ceiling for the one in the bedroom; main unit is connected to the thermostat and is controlled that way. Anyone else have this setup? One AC in the summer is not enough I can tell you that for sure.

I have the configuration you described. I put the 2nd AC in myself. It works great and it keeps the trailer cool even on 100 degree weather. We only use the 2nd unit when it is needed.

I went with the matching Dometic 15k for the bedroom when I had to replace mine.

2016 Prime Time Crusader 321 RES 2nd A/C

My 2016 Crusader 321 RES (36-foot 5th wheel) only has the one Dometic 15000 BTU air conditioner and it is definitely not enough for hot summer days in the south. My forward bedroom now has a Fan-tastic Vent 6600R ceiling vent with remote control which was supposedly installed using the standard 14-inch opening. The brochure that came with the trailer said all Crusaders are pre-wired and framed for the 2nd A/C unit. Is this true? The girl at flagstaff customer service was not so sure.

1. Where is the wiring if it is pre-wired?
2. Can I lift the existing vent out and drop a new unit in the same place?
3. Has anybody ever tried a wireless remote thermostat?
4. The brochure said the 2nd A/C in the bedroom is a 13500? Should I install a 13.5 or the 1500?
5. Should I install a Brisk Air II or the Penguin?

(My dealer want $350 labor to install. To me it sounds like I can do it myself in an afternoon.)

1. not sure
2. It should fit the same hole
3. No
4. I have dual 15k's and they do a decent job in the Texas summer, as long as you aren't in and out and get it cool in the trailer in the morning. If I were doing this project the 15k would be a no brainer.
5.not sure

I have never done this project myself but from what I have read is this, if you are reasonably handy with tools and electricity the hardest part of the project was getting the new AC up on top of the RV.

First place to look is at your circuit breaker box for an unused or labeled breaker. Mine calls it 2nd AC. Then, you would have to remove the inside vent plastic trim. Look to see if you have the wooden blocking needed to support the AC unit. Look around to see if you have the electrical wiring coiled up there. My 290RLT does have it. Did not think to look for the thermostat wiring. Consider your installed height, as this may become your new height.

My dealer just gave me a quote of $1500+ to install a drop-in.
