Crusader 315rst 2nd AC

Anyone know if you can add a second AC to the Crusader 315? Or is the one unit enough in direct sun?

Mine came with the bedroom 13.5k, I dinged it up and replaced it with the 15k and love it. We camped July 4th weekend in 97 degree temps and Texas humidity, the 2 AC's kept the trailer at a comfortable 70 degrees all day.

Good to know if I go with the 315 I may get another 15K instead of 13.5K

For sure, the price difference is really nothing between the two.

No need for a 15K, it only blows in the front bedroom.
I personally would recommend a low profile unit as it will be at the high point of your trailer.

Your 315 is not ducted? That is strange. Mine is ducted and both AC's are connected.

2nd Air

When I purchased my 2016 Crusader 315rst it only had the single air conditioner. This unit comes with ducted air and if you purchase a new unit with both air conditioners installed at the factory both will be ducted. If you add a 2nd air in the bedroom to a unit which did not come from the factory with two air conditioners then the bedroom air will only blow in the bedroom. This is what I was told when I purchased mine. So far I have been satisfied with the performance of the single 15k air however I am investigating the addition of a 2nd air. If I add a 2nd unit it will be a low profile unit and the most quite one I can get. Hope this helps.

I would only add a low profile unit no matter what and if the first unit broke replace with low profile as well, not even sure why they bother with other units on 5th wheels but I guest the cost.

Thanks for clearing that up Kevin. Mine came with the 2nd AC factory installed.

Our 2013 Wildcat Sterling 32RL was wired and braced for the 2nd AC and the previous owner added the 13500 in the front bedroom. It is not ducted but the rear unit is ducted in the entire camper, even the front bedroom.

Here in S Louisiana we have never been uncomfortable even on the hottest must humid days.

Just Saying

I have the single AC unit in my Crusader 315 and am contemplating adding the second in the BR. On our last trip the single unit would not keep up during the day. My questions are if the second unit is added:
1. can it be added to the duct work
2. if not, can the BR ducts be sealed so the rest of the RV cools better

We did notice that the Bath stayed very cool, even to the point that my DW asked me to turn off the AC when she took a shower. I guess I need to shut part of that vent.

I installed adjustable vents in the front bed room and the bath room.
when I run both units I close off the front portion of the RV.

How did you know where to install them to get them connected to the duct work? Was it a big job to do?

Wicked, I think he is saying that he removed the non-adjustable factory vents and replaced them with these. The round ones in his link should fit the factory holes in the ceiling.

Crusader 315rst 2nd AC

IMO you want the bedroom a/c ducted!

If your unit is pre-wired for the second a/c the ducting is already there.
You may just have to remove a panel.

I even had a unit that was not pre wired for second a/c and it was ducted.

GO DUCTED!

Especially if you have the multi zone thermostat.

X3 I did the same....and yes, they do fit in the original hole. Just get yourself a roll of silver A/C duct tape to reseal them to the ceiling ductwork.

I did not realize there were blank panels in the ceiling? I now get it, and hope to get our new 5th wheel soon just want to get the most for my Roo as some dealers are low balling us and not moving off their listed price so we will wait.
